76 Years Old ~~ Still Going Strong!

My word for 2015: Adaptability
Theme for April: "Yarnell, where the desert air meets the mountain breeze!"

My name is Eve. The older you get the harder to lose! I have spent my entire life as a slim, healthy woman. Then at the age of 50 my slim, trim 124 zoomed up to 150 -- and while that may seem like nothing to some of you; I am only 5'2" tall, and it meant exchanging my size 6 to 8 and moving into a size 14! It seemed to happen right before my eyes without me seeing it. ...

In fact, as the years went by I became used to the new weight and ignored it. At 62 I became a widow, and later with dating, the scale found its way up to 162. By the time I turned 69 I decided it was time to take action and in Dec. '07 I joined SP. It's been a learning experience, but I wanted to go slow and steady, and did just that.

For me, it's not a DIET, it's a new Healthy Lifestyle, a change in your habits and activity level and is something that will be with me forever! At the present time I am close to my goal, but even if I stay at this weight, I'm not unhappy.

I am staying positive and try to adapt to the changes that come into my life; just looking for the best in life, it's the only way to stay young and healthy. It's wonderful that people of any age can attain it ~~like that elusive fountain of youth, and that's my goal in life! Remember, "life is what you make it!" Look for the silver lining in every cloud!

By the way, if you're looking for friends -- you're in the right place! EVERYONE on here is a friend as we most likely have the same attitude about healthy living!

Hi Eve, I know what you mean... it's so true. Restaurants give crazy portions sometimes. Even when I was growing up, though, my Mom used to load our plates - I'm not complaining because she and my Dad took very good care of us and I know they sacrificed a lot so we could have more than enough. But it's funny... I remember my Mom and even relatives would give large servings of food. I can't even imagine eating ONLY a 1/2 cup of pasta.. that's crazy! It's taken me a long time to accept 1 cup. emoticon I could relate to your struggles of trading 1 "addiction" for another! I've done that too! Have a great day! emoticon emoticon

Thanks ScotMom... I think the 'advisor' had a serious health issue and had gone that route because all else failed. She was not too heavy, perhaps a bit overweight but she was adamant...and it was a silly path for the poor woman who needed sense.

just read your post about the drive up to Prescott...yes I loved the road with the winding path also..just so much fun to drive!

I think you posted your start weight on Stormy's Challengers..I did also..but most folks post on the Lose 10 lb in May page..so I trotted right over there .

I had thought about joining your weigh daily team..but as we both know over committing can result in disaster..so I decided to continue as I am.

The BLC starts soon and the Azure team is a really busy one,, I enjoy it very much! So looking forward to this team of Lose 10 and the start up of BLC 28.

I hope you are having a nice weekend!

emoticon 4 you my friend!
