In it for good

I've never felt completely in shape, or happy with my body, even though I've been fairly active my whole life. It's time to test myself to see if I really can get into the best shape of my life! In the process I hope to develop healthier eating habits and attitudes toward my body image.

My Goals:
Learn to accept the genes I've been given and work to make them the best they can be! I'm hoping to lose a few pounds in the process but it's really more about being healthy and toning up.

My Program:
DVDs (Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper, Insanity, P90x...) barre classes, other at-home workouts

*Focus on eating freggies, clean poultry, fish, and meat, low fat dairy, and nuts
*Drinking only water, tea, coffee
*Limit added sugar as much as possible

I believe an occasional indulgence (in moderation) is worth it!

Personal Information:
I'm 28 years old living in the DC metro area, originally from the New England area.

I live with my wonderful boyfriend of 7+ years and my beautiful fur-baby, my ragdoll kitty.

I've been a dancer most of my life (jazz, contemporary, ballet...) and since transitioning out of school I've gotten out of dancing and really miss it. But, it caused knee problems (I've had meniscus surgery) so now I'm about finding other ways to stay active and get fit.

I love being outdoors and traveling!

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I had previously discounted Larabars, thinking they had added sugar, etc. in them, but was pleasantly surprised when I just checked their website. They have a lot of vegan bars, so that means no honey added either! Perfect for our trip :) I am not entirely sure where we are going yet. Someone suggested Three Ridges Wilderness Area, but nothing set in stone.

Have fun in Shenandoah this weekend!

Back is doing better, thanks for checking in! Still have to go slowly on some things, but I'm moving around so much better. Every now and then it gives me a gentle reminder that, hey, we were pretty banged up not too long ago, but I should be killin' on the dance floor come Saturday!

SO EXCITED!

emoticon for commenting on my blog. The Wahl's Protocol is inspirational. If you look on YouTube for Minding Your Mitochondria you should find Dr. Wahl's Ted Talk. She has healed herself from MS with Diet. I've been paleo for a while too, but I realized that I was eating too many starchy veggies, fruits, and nut. emoticon The Wahl's Paleo protocol also suggest eating organ meat each week. emoticon Today I'm making chicken liver for the first time. Hopefully I can eat it. emoticon
Thanks again, looking forward to your blog and your September plan.

Thanks for checking in on me! I was actually meaning to post a blog today. =) I'm not anti-spark persay, but I just haven't been enthusiastic about some things that they offer now. The phone app is pooey and the advertisements have become RIDICULOUS! But, I still love the support that the site offers and the wonderful friends that I've met. The job's been treating me pretty well (3 months in!!) and the personal training has been kicking my behind... HAHA! How are you doing?? How's the barre workouts coming along for you? How was the birthday dinner for the BF?
