Baby Steps

I found SP while looking for a nutrition calculator. I'd lost 25 pounds without much of an idea about what I was doing. I was amazed and grateful to discover that Sparkpeople is so much more than a calorie tracker.

I know from experience that making small, consistent positive changes snowballs into an avalanche of change. I didn't know that I would need to pay attention to every day if I wanted to hang on to the benefits of those changes. I didn't know that nothing is or can be ...

I didn't know that nothing is or can be allowed to be more important than health. Not studying. Not chores. Not even family demands.

But I am learning that now.

Personal Information:
I'm from Seattle Washington and I LOVE to hike. Love, love, love to hike!

Other Information:
I have juvenile diabetes which puts an extra wrinkle into exercise, like checking blood sugar in the middle of a long run and carrying juice and a glucometer everywhere. Oh yes, an occasionally crashing.

I'm midway through nursing school where I am probably the oldest nursing student ever.

I love the idea of lying to yourself.... HA! That's awesome--I can hear me doing that, "Laura, you don't have to run today. Just get on the treadmill and watch a show--totally walk it. Laura, 6 mph isn't very fast--kind of a slow jog, right? Now that you're sweaty anyway, Laura, why don't you just pop it into a sprint--just for 60 seconds?"

I think that JUST might work!

Sorry your training got all mucked up--you've had a lot on your plate though. How was the end of the semester?

You've got this, my friend.... And one of these days, I think you Sparkers might just get me tricked into doing a half-marathon too ....
