Hello, I'm Sam. Nice to meet you! I'm a 28-year old geek and cat person. My favorite things are Disney animation, musical theater, and video games. I'm also theoretically a writer type, though the part about actually writing gets a bit lost sometimes!


I've known of this website for a few years now, and start and stop far more than I'd like. After six months of terrible "I live with my parents again" depression/inertia, things have gone down hill. I've gained almost 40 pounds, my legs are all swollen, I have no energy, and no desire to do a thing. So here I am, trying to get myself in check!

I started watching out for myself recently (mid-June 2014!), and decided to update everything and get involved.

I'm in a weird place. I live with my parents, in part to help my Mother when she has a surgery this summer and in part because I have no idea what to do with myself. I earn money online, and don't have a job outside the house. I'm in both a great place to focus on myself and kind of a terrible one, because I just feel lost, I guess?

Anyway, if you've found me, you're welcome to friend me. I'm very introverted and can be awkward when talking to new people, but I'm still open to it! Just forgive me if I say something really ridiculous.

My Goals:
Right now, I am focused on some short-term, week-to-week goals. Once I get my footing, I plan to officially set down some mid-range and long-term goals.

Short term/fast break goals:

1. Track all foods eaten on SparkPeople.
2. Exercise at least 10 minutes/day.
3. Drink 8 cups of water/day.
4. Write at least 100 words/day.

Trying to add more every week and just keep going.

My Program:
Right now, my only plan is to stay within my calories each day and try to control my portions. I probably need to get more formal, but right now I'm learning as much as I can and trying to become more moderate.

I'm a nerdy girl who isn't doing much at the moment. I'm a big fan of Disney animation, musical theatre (Sondheim nerd!), video games (totally biased toward Nintendo forever), and random crafts and activities. I try to write, but usually get stunted. Working on that too!

I'm also a former Walt Disney World cast member. I'm endlessly relieved to not do that work any more (not a great match for my personality!), but I'm always up for a chat about the World.

    Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

    1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

    2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

    The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!
