It would seem that my text was out of date. I'm currently focusing on shorter runs and races due mostly to time constraints. I'm also doing alot more ST. My 49th birthday on November 6, is a big deal for me and growing old is my greatest fear, so I keep fighting back. :-)

My Goals:
Currently I am training to run the Hyannis Marathon with the hopes of qualifying for Boston.
I have more short term goals but the long term goal - the goal that really matters, will be a result of completing the short term goals. THAT goal is to live healthy well into old age so that I can continue to do the things that I want to do and live my life the way I want to live it, not be imprisoned in my home by frailty or even worse.

My Program:
I try to eat well - whole grains, vegetables and fruit - very little red meat (or any other kind of meat for that matter) and to maintain my glucose, pasta, rice, etc...

Training - Push hard and when you think you can't push any more, push harder still!

Personal Information:
I live in Connecticut. Married. Three children and four step children, all of whom I love dearly. I'm 50 and an avid runner, exercise nut.
I am currently completing a degree in Computer Networking and hope to find a better job when it is done.

Other Information:
I love movies. Not a big t.v. fan but there are a few shows I enjoy like Leverage, Fringe, House and Bones.

Minor annoyance as opposed to an "injury". My achilles was a little sore. Given my history with that, I decided to give it some time off and do biking instead. Only 10 days. Just enough to ensure that it is completely 100%.
Not a big deal.
Besides - how much faster can I really get? I'm almost 50 now and I just ran my FIRST sub 6 minute mile in a race. I'm pretty stoked about THAT!
:-)
As far as my achilles. It's been five days and it feels fine but I'm not in any rush.

Ah, i see you are injured again. Semetary!! When are you going to learn!! :) hope you get healthy well again. I think it is time for you to find a plan and stick to it. You will be amazed at how much faster you get following a proven method rather than just running by your gut. Plus, you wont get injured so often.

Thanks for letting use your post to give advice to other more novice runners. I was pretty sure you were doing a good job of "resting/recovering" by what you have been posting for milage.

I just wanted to make sure some newbie doesn't get a funny idea that all you are doing is running fast and faster LOL

Great Job in your training!
