I have tried everything to lose weight. I have battled for years with my size and usually end up gaining back more than I lost. I don't have much positive support in losing the weight. I have wonderful, loving people in my life, but they love me as I am and I hear a lot of "there's no reason to lose weight, I love you as you are" from the best of them or "You never keep the weight off, so why bother" from the rest. Nearly 30 years of needing total joint replacements that we thought were not possible (not going into the reasons why, they're in the "need to let go" category) really contributed to the weight gains.
I had both knees replaced 3 years ago. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. Now, I just need to get myself back in gear, get the weight off again, and keep it off this time!
I will be going back to school in a few weeks, and while most people say "don't try to do too many things at once, you will fail" that doesn't work for me. I tend to do better when I'm actually doing several things at once. It's a momentum thing for me. If I slip on one thing while I'm working on several, I will pull myself back in line faster. If I slip while I'm only doing one thing, I give up. There are good and bad things about knowing yourself this well.
So, here we go...again...
Lose 10lbs before 1st surgery -well that didn't happen, surgery got moved up. I did lose 3lbs.
Wear smaller jeans than my husband
Weigh less than when we met
Weigh under 200
Weigh under 170
Weigh under 150 (optional)

Thanks for reading my blog about Scout. I'm learning too that I have to do what's best for me because I can only handle so many responsibilities. I'm concentrating on taking care of myself and my husband. It's done, and it was the right thing to do.

Thanks for the Cleaning Service Spark Goodie! Every time I clean a carpet I say this is the last time! And then I forget how difficult and tiring it is and think I can do it again!!! I know I won't be doing any more for a while, at least not until later in July since I think I have kids coming home that last week...lol I'll probably tackle it at least one more time...
We do what we can for as long as we can...
I do have a friend that can help with major projects... I'll ask her to help me... that way I won't wrench my back or twist those ouchy knee bones where the cartilage is totally gone!

Hey! Thanks for the Spark Goodies too! I love being in the water, and have done physical therapy for my knees in the water before. It helped a lot. I don't know about the bike. I did it in therapy before too, but my knees are worse now. I know I'll need to do all sorts of post op therapy and I'll try my best to help myself during recovery time. Thank you so much!

Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog(s)! Today was a trying day for me. I moved stuff out of the house decluttering. While my friend was here this morning to collect the stuff for a garage sale her husband was able to catch the cat and relocate her to the farm. The dog has been looking for her so we know he can't figure out why she hasn't come in tonight to eat. I miss her too, but it was for the best. Still I'm a little stressed that we had to give her away... I hope she makes a good adjustment to her new home and the farmer will take care of her... Now when the grands come they won't have itchy eyes and have to take medicine.
I'm still waiting for the dermatology paperwork to come so I can proceed with scheduling knee surgery. I joined the knee and hip replacement team and I think that it will be a big help to me. I read through the the pre op exercises and will work on incorporating them into my schedule. Thanks for your suggestion to breathe. I'm doing just that!

For people who don't understand why you want to lose weight, ask them "If I slipped and fell in the bathtub, would you be able to help me get out?" So, it is less about body image, and more about personal safety. :-) Also, less weight means less strain on your joints, which is always a good thing.
