Goal weight - 140. People who meet me now don't know that I was obese; I like that!!

At my heaviest (221 lbs), hiking was dangerous - I was happy to hike here at approx 200 lbs.

Above the treeline is our favorite place to be; being fit and healthy makes it achievable - Aug '09

Healthy at 50 for Life

At almost 50, it has taken me about 5 years to lose 85+ lbs and to completely change my perspective on living. My amazing spouse (of 27 years) lost 70! Now, I am dedicated to maintaining this achievement for the rest of my life one day at a time.
My focus is nutrition and exercise. I've learned to love myself enough to do what's right for my body and my health. I started out believing I was unhappy because I was fat. I now know that I was fat because I was unhappy.

Your life choices are truely inspiring. It sounds like you found a way to make peace with food and with your life. I am working on achieving that goal also. I have learned a lot about myself and can see changes happening.

Thank you for the comment on my blog. I felt discouraged this week, but realize now that it's the craziness talking again. I literally keep your image in my mind, and your words in my heart, as I continue on this journey. You did not just shoot a straight line to success, but crept forward over many bumps in the road, like everyone else must. I suppose this is why there is still an obesity problem globally... because it's not over in a month's time and everything is perfect again. It takes dedication and lifelong commitment. You are such an amazing and truly kind person.

Enjoy 24! I have only watched it a couple of times, and the suspense was sooooo stressful!

Read KerryAnn's blog about how you inspired her and WOW what a success story you are! You are setup for living a great 'next part of your life'... My mom always said that life begins at 40 and at 43 I feel like this year will be my year for success! I have fixed the other areas (spirit and mind) and now moving to get the body in line with all of it. Your story is proof that it CAN happen!

Thank you for being such an inspiration! (both of you - as it's amazing that you both lost so much weight)...

Saw your comment on my spark page and wanted to come by and send a warm and friendly thank you! Wow, what a transformation, congrats to you and hubby on your finding healthier lifestyles together. I keep telling myself if it takes awhile to lose this +100 lbs. its okay, what is important is that I don't lose sight of my dreams, and don't give up, I'll get their all in good time. Your page speaks those same thoughts to me and gives me the added inspiration I need. "Big Hugs".
