I've been an off and on "fitness buff" for a while now. Was a swimmer in college, but in the off-season I partied and ate a bit too much and gained some weight. Started grad school and was able to drop some of the weight, but again, partying and bad food choices got in my way. Now I'm married and was working out consistently before the wedding...until the honeymoon! Where, you guessed it, drinking and food (and too much relaxing!) got the best of me. I had a 3 week span where I didn't do much after returning home. Now I'm back into it and plan to stay motivated. I want to stay looking good for my hubby!

Overall, I'm in good shape and am pretty muscular due to the college swimming, so my weight is a bit higher than what you would guess just looking at me. My goal is to drop a bit of the excess flab and tone up...hopefully lose some pounds in the process!

UPDATE 2010:

So that intro was written in September 0f 2008, and I have to say that I have definitely stuck with my fitness routine since then! If I don't work out at least 5 times a week and burn 3000 extra calories per week, then I feel like I am slacking! In the past year, I have dropped 3 pant sizes, and lost just about 20 pounds from my highest of 163. Needless to say, I feel great! We all have those little things we need to work on, and this year I have a few goals. One of the first things I need to do is get better about tracking my food. I have no problem with the amount of exercise I get, but I think tracking will help me get rid of those extra pounds (I have been plateauing a bit recently). Another goal that I want to accomplish this year is to finish a triathlon....training for that has begun recently. Hopefully varying my exercise and eating a bit better will help me reach my goals in 2010!!

My Goals:
For 2010:

-I WILL get into the 130s (although I can tell my body is changing, I've been plateauing for a while!)
Update: 6/13/10-I have been consistently in the 130s for a few weeks now...and I'm not looking back!

-Reduce my body fat by at least 5% (recently checked in Jan 2010)

-Finish a triathlon (possibly 2--decision on which length(s) to come!)
Update: 1 triathlon done! 6/13/10, 0.3 mi swim, 13 mi bike, 3 mi run--1:27.37 (not bad for not training for it...the next I will be training for!)

-Continue keeping the drinking to a minimum (one weekend night and a glass of wine here and there during the week)

-Continue to exercise 5-6 days a week



My Program:
Variety, variety, variety...my gym offers several different aerobics classes and I try them all: Spinning, Les Mills classes-combat, step, pump, attack..I never miss them; they keep me so motivated! On a random day, I will exercise at home with a Tae-bo, P90x, or Insanity DVD. I also swim, run, and bike, but I need to up the mileage on these to get ready for my first triathlon this summer!

    I loved your answer to the poll question about what is your diet heavy in and there was no place for protein. My sentiments exactly. Actually I don't think mine is heavy in anything. I don't eat sugar I only eat whole grains and get fruit or veggie at every meal and dairy and either a small amount of meat or beans or cheese or all three. Your pictures look great.
