The Reinventing of Me

I have been somewhat overweight most of life, or at least since high school. In that time I've yo-yo'd a lot from size 6 (a low) to a size 14 and everywhere in between. In the fall of 2005 I decided to take off the weight again. I was near my highest weight of 150lbs and feeling miserable because none of my clothes fit and I refused to buy the next size up.

I joined Weight Watchers Online and lost 15 of the 20 I needed to get to where I thought was reasonable to maintain. Then I ...

Then I started going to meetings to get the support to handle maintenance (where I screwed up the prior year). They were very helpful, but about the same time I also joined here.

Within a few months I'd pretty much switched over to tracking here in the nutrition tracker and not counting points anymore, instead tracking calories. I also started working out with Turbo Jam in March of 2006. By May 31st, I'd reached my goal and actually dropped 10 lbs below it!

Now I'm about 9 lbs below my official WW goal (I made lifetime) and feeling like there will be no trouble keeping this off. In fact, Spark People has taught me an entire new lifestyle.

At 39, I am in the best shape of my entire life and I feel great! Who would have thought? Oh, and did I mention I'm wearing a size 4 and sometimes 2? hehe

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's a great program. I recommend that you do by the book and read over it. They also have a great website www.bodyforlife.com that has some great information as well. The challenge is free you just download the packet and after the 12 weeks send it in. I did the program 2 years ago and lost about 20 pounds and 3 pant sizes!!!!! Lovin that! Let me know if you decide to do it I love encouraging others to do it. It keeps me motivated!

Good morning, I do love my treadmill it is a Nordic track and it has ifit technology. Which means you can buy SD cards with different programs & levels, and the treadmill will run the program for you and annouce when it is changing you speed or incline, very cool and challenging if you want it to be. I would like to get an elliptical next and that will complete my workout room.
Thank for all the encouragement, happy treadmill shopping. emoticon

Thanks for the suggestion you left on my Spark page. Unfortunately, my hubby already tried melatonin and it didn't help. He's been trying another natural remedy lately, also to little avail. I do feel sorry for him -- it must be difficult to suffer from insomnia. I feel like our entire house is sleep-deprived. I always joke that I have child-induced insomnia.

Shani - thanks for the good advice on focusing on one small goal at a time. I think that's what I am going to do and build on it.
