My Goals:
My life went into a downward spiral in 2008 after my mother-in-law died. My husband and I went through a very stressful time in our lives dealing with relatives who wanted to fight over her house, not to mention dealing with the horrible finality of losing her. Several months after her death, my husband almost died during an emergency surgery to remove 4 blood clots from his leg. He is fine now, thank GOD! All this stress distracted me from taking good care of myself, and I developed some unhealthy eating habits and stopped exercising. Over the course of two years, I gained about 62 pounds and was miserable. I am finally coming out of the fog caused by all that stress, and it is time to take my life and my health back NOW!!!

My Program:
Right now, I am doing cardio 4 to 5 times a week--usually the stationary bike, treadmill, walking in my neighborhood or a Boot Camp DVD. I plan to incorporate strength training into my routine on a regular basis very soon. I am currently trying to abstain from white-refined sugars and white-refined flours. I do my best to eat mostly whole grains, fresh or frozen fruits and veggies, and lean meat, poultry, and fish, as well as getting plenty of healthy fats in my daily diet.

I am finding the 5% challenge motivating. Meeting a lot of new sparkfriends, were're encouraging each other. Lost 1 lb the first week, so it's a start, right?! I'm continuing to try to eat whole foods, not processed. I think that's the key for me (that, and my green tea with lemon). Have a good week & keep in touch, okay? emoticon
