Once and For All!

6/14/13 Day 1 - I've been overweight since the age of 11. I gained 25 pounds as a kid in the 5th grade when my parents divorced. 7 years of stress and unhappiness followed and overeating became a lifelong habit and way to cure stress and numb pain...so I thought. All along it only created more. At the age of 51, I reached my highest weight ever. Thankfully at 53, I am back in the game and losing again. I need to do this for me first and for my wonderful family so I am healthy and there ...

You asked me what I am doing to lose 30 pounds in 2 months? I TRACK every bite I take, even if I go over my daily limit. I don't use my exercise calories as extra food, ever. I get 10,000 steps or more in every day. I work out every day (I started at 20 minutes and I now do 45!) I have a cycle-ops bike trainer and ride my bike inside since it is so cold now in MN. I also go to a fitness center and lift weights and do the elliptical (Super great sweat producing workout) I have also ran around my house and up and down stairs and have had a dance party by myself. I had knee surgery so I have to be careful, but it seems to be getting better, YEAH! I have made over most of my recipes to make them lighter so i still eat good food for less calories. I drink 12 glasses (Yes that is correct) of water every day. I drink 4 glasses before breakfast and before drinking any coffee. (I drink a lot less coffee now too) I eat at least 7 fruits and veggies every day. I now park the farthest I can from any door so I get extra steps in. I limit alcohol and any empty calories, I'd rather eat 6 apples than 1 snickers bar (Seriously about the same amount of calories!) I weigh myself every day and if I am up I make Weight Watchers vegetable soup (Italian beef broth version) and eat that for a few meals. If I go way over in calories one day I'm not afraid to go way under the next. I use all of the awesome tricks and tips on this website and all of the awesome support I have gotten from all of my Spark friends to keep me going. I also joined a team on SP with a weekly challenge. That helps me stay accountable. I am determined to become healthy and to get to a healthy weight. I am a nurse and have taken care of everyone else in my life and finally decided that I need to take care of myself also. I have lost every member of my family from either cancer or weight related problems. I am the only one left. I don't want my husband and kids to lose me young (I'm 48) So I have decided that I'm not using excuses anymore, I'm going to work on myself and be the best me I can be.
P. S. I VERY RARELY eat any processed food, whole food has a lot less calories. I use a lot of herbs, garlic, etc... in my cooking to make the food taste great.
Good luck on your Journey!!! You can do this! You are so worth it!
