April 12, 2014--Biggest Loser Off-Road Challenge at Citi Field, NYC
Not entirely sure when this picture was taken, but I know it was definitely somewhere near my highest weight.
I'm a fat girl trying to run my way to being a not-so-fat girl. The goals have changed from being focused so much on how I look to being focused on how I feel, and that shift has made all the difference to me. Eventually, I know the scale will catch up.
My highest weight ever was 288 (which, unfortunately, is no longer true), reached in part via a bad relapse with depression. I dropped 20 pounds of it the summer following (2006) and held steady in the 270s for awhile before eventually climbing back into the 280s. After that, I worked and got down in the 260s, but got back into the 270s. Before entering grad school, I got back in the 260s........
And the yoyos go on and on. It seems like a constant back and forth...I managed to get down a little and then pop back up into the 270s or 280s. So now, Summer 2015, I'm staring at a new highest weight ever which is something I never wanted to happen. 298 was much too close to 300. So let's do this again and fight that yoyo.
In 2015, I would like to:
---Complete 3 5ks
---Complete 1 10k
---Complete a half marathon
---2 obstacle races
---Complete 1 Whole30 without cheating
I haven't had much of one, lately. Working on consistency. I would like to run three days, cross train 2-3, and do yoga 2. I've been having some hip trouble, so I want to take some of those workouts to the pool.
7/18/12: 5K 43:50
6/9/2013: 5k 48:17 (ALL hill for first half of race!)
7/4/2013: 5K 39:47 (no walking!!)
4/12/14: BL Off Road Challenge
7/5/14: Color Run 5k 41:50
4/26/15: 5k 46:54

I live in NYC where I'm actively managing to NOT break into the publishing industry. Love all there is to do and see, but it's definitely not an easy place to live.

Thank you so much for your encouragement on my blog today! I had been putting off changing my goals for a while now and finally got the nerve to do it. Figured I won't know if it works unless I try and I think what I was doing was no longer helping me. At first I was nervous about eating more, but I really enjoyed it yesterday LOL.

Thanks for all the info! I haven't seen a store for runners like that around here. Sounds interesting. When I decide to jog again I am going to try to correct my stride and probably going to get a heel insert of some kind for my shoes. Tried on my shoes yesterday and still sore, but getting better. I plan to wait until it is better and then start walking again. Waiting is hard, but it's been raining the past couple days anyway so it takes some of the bad feelings away. Like I couldn't have walked anyway LOL.
I will have to try the oat shakes when I need to change it up! I'm like you about the protein powder. Anyway, it seems that it's better to get your protein from real food so your way is probably healthier.

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I was reading a lot about the heel problem and I think it's a combination of things. I recently lengthened one of my intervals by quite a bit since I sort of connected two to avoid a slight hill. That increase and my stride probably had something to do with it. I am going to put on my shoes tomorrow to see if it hurts still, but I am thinking it might be still too early. I walked and jogged on it for about a week before giving into it. Thought it was one of those things that would work itself out LOL. I think I have been coming down on my heel lately too. Thanks for the advice!
I am going to have to look in to more information about the correct shoe for the stride. Never thought of that before. The shoes were fine until I did that increase so I am hoping I don't have to shop for new ones. There is a visible bruise so I am hoping it's just from my goofy self learning how to jog.
I've used a little oatmeal in smoothies, but would love to know more about your oat shakes! Always looking for new food ideas. I've been sort of hooked on the mixed frozen fruit from walmart cooked in the oatmeal with raisins, cinnamon, and peanut butter. The fruit and raisins definitely sweeten it up.
