Learning To Take Care of Myself in 2014

Yep, here I go again. I am sure I am not alone. It's time to look at my progress or lack of progress in 2013.

So it's almost seven years since I joined Spark and I still haven't gotten to my goal. I weigh more than I did when I started. I feel like I'm telling myself a fib when I say, "This time I will do it!" but I am hoping that this time will be the charm. This time next year I'll have a completely different story. Instead of trying again, I did it finally! A big motivator is ...
Yep, here I go again. I am sure I am not alone. It's time to look at my progress or lack of progress in 2013.

So it's almost seven years since I joined Spark and I still haven't gotten to my goal. I weigh more than I did when I started. I feel like I'm telling myself a fib when I say, "This time I will do it!" but I am hoping that this time will be the charm. This time next year I'll have a completely different story. Instead of trying again, I did it finally! A big motivator is that I don't want to do this again in Jan 2015.

Of course I'm trying to figure out my lack of commitment. What am I getting by holding on to this weight. Dropping these pounds offers so much more. I know one thing. I love to eat and while I can have incredible self control, I can also allow a lot of splurges and toss my diet plan to the side and out the door. Sometimes I am easily influenced to eat what I shouldn't while at other times, you couldn't pay me to go off my plan. So I need to find out how to keep the healthy me and stick to it determination in control.

So some things I think that will help me stay focused most of the time.
1. I am working on some emotional eating issues that might influence my lack of control.
2. I've talked to hubby and discussed him helping me when I'm feeling weak.
3. I need to be honest with myself. I know what foods will put weight on and what will help decrease it so I need to act accordingly when I choose what to eat.
4. Eat at home whenever possible and eat before going out and take snacks with me. My will gets very weak when smell fast food cooking.
5. Realize there is nothing more important than this. My future and current health depends on it.
6. The past few months I've put reminders up around the house - on the fridge, by my bed. I need to put a couple in the car. It will help when we're cruising by a fast food place that is smelling too good - not to give in to the temptation or at least choose a healthier option if we have to eat out.
7. I know how to do this. I have no excuses. I can do this.
8. July 2014- The thing I feared has come upon me...a high blood sugar diagnosis! Well that should help me nip the potato and pasta addiction for once and for all.

I am setting myself up for success this year.

Remember slow weight loss is still good b/c it gives the skin time to adjust.

My Program:
Wed 7/16/14 -
Diabetes 2 diagnosis. A1C - 8.8
Blood glucose - 171

1. Read Dr. Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes and Eat To Live - Reversing diabetes books. They were very convincing. My skin looks better when I eat more veggies. I'm plant based- for normalizing blood sugars and losing weight.

Started with Low Carb (Started very low carb Atkins 72 but still felt bad after a month and anxiety /depression started to surface again. Researched and it can be caused by very low carb so increasing carbs a bit.

Personal Information:
Married - no kids other than our dog-baby Gizmo.

I love to read inspirational books, self improvement, and Christian fiction.

Hey! Thx so much for the comment on my food blog. That pizza was so good my mom even asked me to make double the recipe next time. She nor my stepdad eat low carb but they both loved it! :) Let me know how it turns out for you. I want to try it with sausage too.

Hey! My Friday has been good so far. It's been a lazy day actually. It's rainy here in NC. I'm so glad you liked the cauliflower bake. I love that stuff! And you can add so much stuff to it. So many ways to make it! :) Hope you have a great weekend.
