Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my teen daughter bad habits.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to? My daughter will have the example she deserves and I will have the healthy, fit body ...

My Program:
Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

Update 6/2013- I've hired a
personal trainer to help me with strength training 2x weekly.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 per day and trying the low-carb way of eating.

Personal Information:
From the Northeast but not originally.

Thanks for the comments on my last 2 blog posts. Ribeye is the best! I haven't had it bone in, nobody does it around here that I know of and I only get it a few times a year anyway. I'm sure the bone adds some more flavor, which would be difficult to do since it's already so flavorful!

The whole work thing is almost a double edged sword; I enjoy making an income, but I also enjoy sleeping in! I'm trying to train myself to go to bed earlier, between 9 and 9:30 so I can get plenty of sleep and still get up at 6 am. I'm used to going to bed between 1 and 3 in the morning, so it's quite an adjustment,

Thanks for the comment on my blog post. I'm trying to rest up and give my knee time to feel better. It sucks though, I need to be moving around more to burn calories, but when your knee is hurting you need to be still more.

Conundrums, I has them!

Thanks for the blog comment. Sleep definitely pays a big role for me. When I can get 8.5 - 9 hours of sleep it's easier to lose weight. Of course I seem to usually get about 6 hours. That's the kind of thing that happens when you have a bad back, you don't sleep as deep or as long as you'd like!

Thanks for the blog comment. If it were easy, we'd all be thin and good looking... I just have to buckle down (like so many others here have done) and get the job done.

Good job on your loss this week!

Thanks for the blog comment. I hope I'm putting together a streak! It would be nice to keep posting losses each week for a few months!
