Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my tween daughter bad habits and that it's ok to be overweight, strike that, morbidly obese.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to?

Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1300-1500 a day.

From the Northeast, although not originally.

Don't beat yourself up over the popcorn demons. They have the whole system rigged to undermine every ounce of willpower we try to take into the theater with us! (No, I' swear I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Promise!)

Are you saying that you don't like blue cheese or ranch dressing??? Are you even from this planet???? :)

I'm probably the wrong person to give salad advice; I like some lettuce, grated cheese, olives, bacon, ham, croutons and sunflower seeds to go with my blue cheese / ranch mix. It's probably a good idea that I only eat my salad on my free day :)

"If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination.
The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying. "Here comes number seventy-one!"

Just dropping by to thank you for commenting on my blog, "The NSV is Blowing in the Wind." I appreciate the support!

PS: I eat around 1500 to 1800 calories a day. As long as I feel like I'm making progress, I'll stick with that number. Of course, as I lose weight I will have to eat less but I'll adjust when the time comes.

"Three of the most powerful words in the English language are 'I AM RESPONSIBLE.' It's tough to do, but when the day comes that you can say those words, believe them, and mean them, it will be the most liberating moment of your life. Taking responsibility for all of your results, for better or for worse, is taking back your power to create results in your life."
