Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my teen daughter bad habits.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to? My daughter will have the example she deserves and I will have the healthy, fit body ...

My Program:
Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

Update 6/2013- I've hired a
personal trainer to help me with strength training 2x weekly.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 per day and trying the low-carb way of eating.

Thanks for the blog comment. I have thought about seeing a Dr. but my experience tells me that if they can't diagnose you with something right away and give you a prescription for it, they would just rather avoid you, or tell you that it's all in your head (yeah, been told that before with another issue I had). Of course if you're a celebrity, athlete, politician or just plain wealthy they will go on full blown House M.D. mode and find the problem and fix it!

I think it would be kind of flattering that someone I don't have any interaction with has actually noticed that I lost weight. Of course, it would only be flattering if it were phrased nicely. Punch her in the face next time you see her.

Thanks for the blog comments. Christmas week went well, New Years week, not so well. I was thinking water weight myself (hoping more like it). But damn if I did have a hard time again this week!
