Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my teen daughter bad habits.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to? My daughter will have the example she deserves and I will have the healthy, fit body ...

My Program:
Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

Update 6/2013- I've hired a
personal trainer to help me with strength training 2x weekly.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 per day and trying the low-carb way of eating.

Thanks for the blog comment. Although I haven't been putting a lot of effort into me weight loss for quite a while, I remember a time when I was doing 1 hour on the treadmill twice a day, killing myself at 15 degree incline and 4mph, and all I was doing was maintaining my weight! It sucks when you put a lot of effort into anything and don't get to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thanks for the blog comment. This is just how my life has gone for the last 20 years or so. Here I finally get back to work for a couple of weeks, earning some money that I really need and poof, injured. I'm sure that I will have to miss work for a period of time, we've had people that had minor fractures of pinky fingers (no cast needed, just splinted and wrapped) that missed 8 weeks of work. It's a pretty rough job at times!

Thanks for the blog comment. It can be a very rough job! Lots of bruises and the occasional bleeding... my second day back at work and I was bleeding from a deep scratch on the back of my hand!

I'm tired of waiting for my body to do what I want it to do. Of course, I'm not giving 100% effort though. I'm afraid that if I did start to put all of my effort into it and still didn't see much of a result I'd be completely broken and just quit all together. So for now I'll stick with 75% effort with the occasional spike into the 80's.

Thanks for the blog comment. It seems that SP does this every so often. Skips over the things that people have been asking for and instead changes something that seems to work just as it was intended. Frustrating!
