Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my teen daughter bad habits.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to? My daughter will have the example she deserves and I will have the healthy, fit body ...

My Program:
Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

Update 6/2013- I've hired a
personal trainer to help me with strength training 2x weekly.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 per day and trying the low-carb way of eating.

Yea, I used to work with some pretty rude people. I remember I was sitting on the edge of a table at work and my boss told me to get off because I would "break the table". That was YEARS ago, but I still remember the comments!

Thanks for the comments on my blog posts and for the belated birthday wishes :) The 31st of March is the best day to be born on, lots of famous people can attest to that!

Thanks for the comment on my blog post. Last week I definitely got my fair share of sleep, not so much this week though! I am going to enjoy sleeping in this weekend and after I give blood on Saturday, I may just be tired enough to go to bed earlier than normal!

Thanks for rubbing my face in the fact that you've been taking vacations... I think I've forgotten what those are!

Thanks for the blog comments. Being at one location for work is better than bouncing all around the county, it allows me to have a set morning routine; a time to wake up, have my coffee and leave the house. Much easier than having to leave at different times to accommodate the driving distance. And yes, I do pack my lunch and snacks. At my 10 am break I have a FIber One bar, only 190 calories but 9 grams of fiber (unfortunately only 2 grams protein though) and at lunch I have a banana and a higher protein bar (like an Atkins bar). That's all I need to get me through from 8 am to 2:15 pm (technically I leave at 7am so I can get a parking space and sit in my truck for about 15 minutes and the drive home gets me here about 3 pm). But those small amounts of food and 10 glasses of water is all I need until dinner.
