Just wanted to say thank you for your post. I, too, am short and muscular (and the extra weight doesn't help, but that's slowly coming off), and have been wondering whether my body type just wasn't cut out for running. I've been doing alternating intervals of walking and jogging for quite some time, and was feeling discouraged about my difficulty in pushing my pace under 15 minutes per mile. Your post gives me hope that maybe I am on track after all... I've just got to keep going. Thank you for that!

I appreciate you showing the time line, some of us would consider this a long time from now, the 6 months and 5 months and so on. However, you shared your experience in such a way that you have made me want to get back on the road and start trying again. Thank you! You have motivated Me! I hurt my knee and ankle earlier this year while mushroom hunting, it was wet out, I slid while going down hill on a small wet branch, caught my foot in a crevice and twisted - heard the pop of my knee, etc. So, I was nursing these for several months while walking and the walking caused me to swell and hurt. So, I would wait a few days and go at it again. I was so nervous about trying running again due to all of this and the time frame it was taking - I am 49. You - You wonderful person that you are- shared your journey - You woke me up and I'm ready to go and try this again. I am now picturing myself, this time, next year - doing what I've always loved doing! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
