Getting Going on Making the Golden Years Great!

I'm Susan - a wife, mother of three, first time grandmother, and ready to be fit! I live out in the country with my husband, dog and two horses, and enjoy gardening, riding and walking. It's time to make my health a priority!

"You don't get what you want, you get what you work for." It's time to do the work!

I've completed my first challenge, Winter 5%, and exceeded my goal.

My Goals:
Overall Goals:

Making healthy choices every day, and getting back on track when I misstep are my main goals.

Short term goal:

Weigh 173, which will officially lower my BMI to "over" instead of "obese!"

I don't consider myself to be on a diet, because diets have an end, and living a healthy lifestyle needs to continue until Jesus calls me home!

My Program:
Focusing on lots of vegetables, fruits, low fat proteins, whole and complex grains and little to no sugar. My exercise program includes treadmill workouts, exercise videos, beginning strength training (besides lifting 50 pound bags of feed and my 35 pound grandson) gardening, and horses (care and riding).

Personal Information:
I have lived in beautiful North Georgia since I was a teenager. My husband, Steve, and I live on 20 rural acres where I am blessed to be able to do the things I love - garden, have horses, walk and enjoy the country!
We have raised two daughters and one son, all who still live fairly close by. Now that I am retired, I can spend more time with my grandson.

We are Sue!! It is very comfortable and seems to.have plenty of storage space for everything including a cost closet right inside the entry door. Matt loves the outdoor kitchen!

Sue, They're (Elizabeth Hasselbeck's) NOgii. I happened to stumble on them over in the area towards the front of the store where the nuts, bars, chips etc are (not in the health and beauty area where they sometimes keep this kind of thing) They only have one flavor, "chocolate caramel bliss" and they taste really good. They are petite not one of those big clunky bars. 120 calories, and a respectable 7 grams of protein. To me they are somewhat of a sweet treat too. (8 g sugars, 1 g fiber) If you're not near a Costco they might have them on Amazon. I keep 2 of everything in the car nowadays because we go everywhere together with all of this house stuff and hubs wants one and a water too emoticon I put one of those small lunch size ice packs in with them because they have a chocolate coating that might melt in heat. The inside is kind of rice crispy-ish (only kinda) with that little bit of caramely. The ingredients list is pretty clean. They have a little agave which I normally can't tolerate but it's towards the end of the list and I can't taste it. Happy trail riding!! emoticon
