Getting Going on Making the Golden Years Great!

I'm Susan - a wife, mother of three, first time grandmother, and ready to be fit! I live out in the country with my husband, dog and two horses, and enjoy gardening, riding and walking. It's time to make my health a priority!

"You don't get what you want, you get what you work for." It's time to do the work!

I've completed my first challenge, Winter 5%, and exceeded my goal.

My Goals:
Overall Goals:

Making healthy choices every day, and getting back on track when I misstep are my main goals.

Short term goal:

Weigh 173, which will officially lower my BMI to "over" instead of "obese!"

I don't consider myself to be on a diet, because diets have an end, and living a healthy lifestyle needs to continue until Jesus calls me home!

My Program:
Focusing on lots of vegetables, fruits, low fat proteins, whole and complex grains and little to no sugar. My exercise program includes treadmill workouts, exercise videos, beginning strength training (besides lifting 50 pound bags of feed and my 35 pound grandson) gardening, and horses (care and riding).

Personal Information:
I have lived in beautiful North Georgia since I was a teenager. My husband, Steve, and I live on 20 rural acres where I am blessed to be able to do the things I love - garden, have horses, walk and enjoy the country!
We have raised two daughters and one son, all who still live fairly close by. Now that I am retired, I can spend more time with my grandson.

Thanks, Sue! Yes, that is my granddaughter in the background picture. It was taken here at the park last summer down by the creek. That is my daughter and her husband in the background. We had so much fun that weekend! emoticon

I agree! I greased my saddle up to help make it waterproof in the hopes I can continue to ride over the winter. It rains a LOT here...

Well we are officially only a stone's throw away from you now! One State over and here we are. One of these days when all of the dust settles we'll have to see if there is somewhere in between to meet up. We did drive through part of Ga. on our way here but I don't remember which day. The 5-day drive is already a blur and we haven't even been here a week. emoticon Thanks for stopping by my page and blog and for your kind support. So nice to have good friends to check in with!

Yes, sanded and painted the deck over the weekend. In all fairness, I had a LOT of help from Bruce and we are both tired, sore and very cranky today (Monday) but the deck looks GREAT! Just the trim around the windows to do now, and we plan to repaint the house in the spring if things go according to plan.

Sometimes the hard part is just getting started. Other times it's getting it finished. I walk out and stand on the deck and can't believe we got it all done, start to finish. Great feeling!
