Getting Going on Making the Golden Years Great!

I'm Susan - a wife, mother of three, first time grandmother, and ready to be fit! I live out in the country with my husband, dog and two horses, and enjoy gardening, riding and walking. It's time to make my health a priority!

"You don't get what you want, you get what you work for." It's time to do the work!

I've completed my first challenge, Winter 5%, and exceeded my goal.

My Goals:
Overall Goals:

Making healthy choices every day, and getting back on track when I misstep are my main goals.

Short term goal:

Weigh 173, which will officially lower my BMI to "over" instead of "obese!"

I don't consider myself to be on a diet, because diets have an end, and living a healthy lifestyle needs to continue until Jesus calls me home!

My Program:
Focusing on lots of vegetables, fruits, low fat proteins, whole and complex grains and little to no sugar. My exercise program includes treadmill workouts, exercise videos, beginning strength training (besides lifting 50 pound bags of feed and my 35 pound grandson) gardening, and horses (care and riding).

Personal Information:
I have lived in beautiful North Georgia since I was a teenager. My husband, Steve, and I live on 20 rural acres where I am blessed to be able to do the things I love - garden, have horses, walk and enjoy the country!
We have raised two daughters and one son, all who still live fairly close by. Now that I am retired, I can spend more time with my grandson.

Sue thanks for asking- no it was a quiet week-end. Many of the real estate companies around here aren't even open on the week-ends (they can be reached by cell phone of course) I called our agent late Saturday afternoon and she said not to worry and then last evening she called and made an appointment for this morning, but it's only for an agent to preview. I've been making the bed in "winter mode" which is completely made and all decorative pillows up- instead of "summer mode" which is sheets and one blanket pulled up, spread rolled down, pillows on the bench LOL. I feel like someone all dressed up for Prom and my date hasn't picked me up yet. Have a great week!! emoticon

Sue, I hope that the Whirlpool refrigerator works out well for you, it certainly should with its good reviews! I loved your blog with pictures of the trailer. It looks like just the thing for Ombre (and Belle) and can't wait to hear how they do with it. I am guessing it will be mostly Ombre's! Don't work too hard cleaning house, hope you get to go riding soon! emoticon

Thanks, Sue! I love the tile work too! Matt does most of the work, I just help when I can. I don't think he will be opening any more businesses, he told me when the house is done, he's selling his tools! (I'll believe THAT when I see it!) emoticon

Hi Sue! We have been putting things in the cabinets and using the oven in the stove now and then! Not using it a lot, still doing most of food preparation in the RV. Also washing dishes in here. Thanks for commenting on my blog!

Thanks for reading my blog and commenting, and thanks for the prayers for the people of Comanche! I know, I was raised in Michigan where it was against the law for individuals to have fireworks. I never knew till I moved to Texas that private citizens could even have fireworks!
