My Spark background:
In January of 2007 I was lead to Sparkpeople. I immediately fell for it before I knew it I was leading two teams and having a crazy good time on the site and spreading the spark off the site.
How can you not love this place? The word Altruistic comes to mind. It was built with wellness in mind for all of mankind and yes, it should be FREE! . It was made to nurture and heal and build community in humility. I love that part!
And it works... I have learned so much from the people and the site that I know no matter how hard life can be I'll always have my sparkpeople!!!
I have always been a fitness and nutrition junkie. (I helped coach a best friend lose 20 pounds when we were just 11 years old!)
I have also lost people close to me to obesity or addictions so sparkpeople helps ground me in my purpose to stay healthy, and inspire or teach others in their own journey to wellness.
This site helped me climb out of a slump and reach a new pinnacle of self- improvement, happiness and determination. I'm good at this, and I can lead - so why not nurture it by surrounding myself with like minded individuals? Again, this place is loaded with wonderful, inspiring, health-conscious individuals who I now consider my dear friends. I am never alone with spark!
BETTER LIVING THROUGH EATING CLEAN
Eating Clean? Yeah, that's me. One of the most natural progressions for me was to find others who like myself, enjoy simple "clean" eating. I was doing this for years, but without an awareness or 'labe'l for it. Being invited to take over the Eating Clean team (it was just a baby at about 40 people) was an honor. And by leading by example I started to see more results in my own story.
I started to lose fat and start feeling better mentally and physically. I became more cheerful, and continually received praise over all this obvious weightloss, when in fact, I lost very little. I was losing fat and leaning out, but as you know, fat doesn't weigh much. So I haven't lost a bunch of weight, promise. I'm healthy!!!
Since focusing on this aspect of my life I've reduced a lot of fat, toxins and general malais from my body and mind.
I am always less bloated- almost never have a double chin or any evidence of bloat! I also notice that after a pattern of not eating clean I am prone to sulking or mild depression. And you know what follows there is bad habits or comfort food choices.
The proof is in Eating Clean. Doesn't it just make sense? Eating more veggies, less starch...more lean meat... means you are nutrionally sound!!! It's a total fitness of body and mind or 'wellness' that I am achieving. I feel emotionally more stable and am consistently happier.
Note: Consistency is a factor in your personal goals....and ultimately your successes. Long term effort pays off. Just remember to take the hurdles as they come. It's the long term efforts that will get you that prize at the end! Always always get back on and keep trying.. you will get to the end!
In 2008, I am carrying this new me forward to another level. I'll be atacking various goals and 'hurdles' which includes finances, personal and professional acheivements and the ultimate prize- buying property.
I hope to continue to find ways to help anyone who needs it and I look forward to spreading the spark wherever I go.
My Program/visions for quarter one of 2008
***Cardio Plan (you can't lose weight without cardio)
-5 days each week- (check)
-biking to work every day that I can (Spring goal) Almost spring!
-run on the treadmill 2-3 times per week(check)
- Pilates 1 time per week (make it happen!)
****Strength Training (boosts metabolism/burns more calories).
2 days a week on my own beginning March (check)
2 days week with trainer beginning March. ( THIS is the best investment!)
By the end of April I am weaned off of the need for a fitness expert trainer. (about 24 sessions) Again, so worth the investment
-Eating Clean is the way! I've never felt so good and alive.
-Continue cooking at home. Reduce waste using tupperware and continue to recycle paper goods. (check)
-Plan meals and cook each weekend for the week (check)
-Eat out once per week and once on the weekends for fun. No more than this and make it a clean restaurant choice! (check)
***** Community Service
- Spread the Spark
- Buckle down on 3 R's (recycle, reduce, reuse!) (check)
- Take the membership class at Church in July
- Back into bible study by Summer (check, already back!)

- Todo list - Keep it alive and carry it with me whereever I go! The list itself need not be organized. Just write it down and carry it with me, keeping it alive and striking out those tasks anywhere I am! Work on this weakness and life will be good.

-One day at a time is my best plan with moderate planning for the week ahead.
-Take care of my mind. Stop, meditate and Thank God for my blessings. I am mentally on my knees and always remain humble in great gratitude!!!

Stay that way.
I ditched the scale. I'm using my countour as a guide. But I do check myself once a month if I'm near a store that might have scales. Changing my thiking and moving away from the scale has tought me to appreciate my adult curves and not to sweat the small stuff. It's a great process towards liberation!
1. The 'Photo on the fridge'. The teeny girl with skinny arms and legs and a cool slender tummy. She is my inspiration and I keep her image in the back of my mind...
2. Attitude- I love my body. Taking care of it is something we have to do. Respecting myself, loving myself has been a process.
3. Centered in God. orWhen I'm in a state of humility I feel more disciplined, relaxed, and at peace. This is called being in touch with yourself, remember? To remember daily that I am a spirit having a human experience. I will have better success in re-channelling all negative energy patterns into positive ones/habits. Keywords are: FOCUS and COMMITMENT.
4. Exercise & Nutrition-
Workout 5 days a week using routines or fun with my boy. Plan my meals ahead of time. Remember portion control and no emotional eating!
