I live in Cumbria (in the north-west of England). I love running in the hills and am an active member of the local church.

I was really pleased to discover SparkPeople because it will help me to not only lose excess weight, but also do it in a healthy and, I hope, lasting manner. It's certainly a challenge, but then I like challenges!

I've just signed up to the Winter 5% Challenge. I'm still really struggling with keeping my calorie intake within my allotted range. My diet is generally very healthy but I eat too much of it! It is hard not to become disheartened, but I'm NOT giving up!

I will swim three times a week, strength train at least twice a week and run at least five times a week.

My goals for the Winter 5% Challenge are:
1. track everything I eat
2. stay within my daily calorie range
3. stay within my daily carb, fat, protein and fibre ranges
4. track all my exercise
5. do at least an hour's exercise every day, preferably two.
6. Log my LTGL points and 'air miles' each week, if not every day.
7. Post my weekly weigh-in result.
8. NOT read blogs, articles, play trivia, take part in forum thread discussions or games or any other Spark Point-obsessive activities!
9. Time freed by observing Point 8 to be put towards ensuring that I get at least 7.5 hours of sleep each night.

My Goals:
I want to be slim, fit into my 'slim' clothes comfortably, feel good about my body, not embarrassed by it and to be able to run faster. And I want to do all this in a healthy way that I can maintain. I also want to feel good about myself as a person, which I often don't at the moment.

I need to be kinder to myself and give myself the rest, sleep and healthy food my body requires instead of punishing myself all the time.

My Program:
I'm going to track all my food, stick within my calorie goals, and exercise and do strength training at least twice a week. I'm also making sure I stretch for 5 minutes a day.

Thanks for your lovely comments on my page--you can absolutely borrow any saying you want! All any of us can do is try hard every day to live healthy & not give in to the junk food munchies. :)
