Sparking the Healer within

Each of our individual lives is a sacred story spanning however many or few years we are graced to breathe in human form on this poignant planet.

My interests from an early age have informed my jobs, skills, trainings and experiences: Wholeness, healing, reclamation, self-empowerment.

I learned about homeopathy through self-help home care for pets and people, which opened my world into possibilities of healing conventionally unknown and unimagined.

I am a trained Spiritual Director, which shares deep listening and presence with homeopathy.

I am a trained SoulCollage® Facilitator, a healing tool and modality that parallels homeopathy in many ways – each collaged card identified as an individual homeopathic remedy, both acting in a complementary way to “piece together” an organism seeking balance and restoration through freeing blocked energy/consciousness.

I adapt the SoulCollage® process as Mini Vision Collages – see more about SparkPeople’s Vision Collage Gallery team below.

At the time I discovered SoulCollage®, my life was going through many changes. The process of making cards and discerning inner wisdom was enjoyable and transformative. SoulCollage® is a fun and friendly way to collage ourselves back to wholeness. The meaning of each card is personal and evolves over time, providing access to parts of Self and personality long-forgotten or even abandoned--at times, manifesting otherwise unnamable facets of who we are, or even who we are becoming.

SoulCollage® cards hold the gentle capacity to become a cherished relationship in which our very human lives are reclaimed through an ongoing journey of self- discovery. What might confuse, confound, anger and grieve our human minds is intricately connected to the whole. Through practice with SoulCollage® readings, we create a customized well of perspective and wisdom from which to draw in daily living. Each SoulCollage® deck is a living entity that evolves with its creator.

My SoulCollage® Facilitator Training was in 2004 and provided a wonderful grounding in SoulCollage's deepest gifts of self-reclamation and self-empowerment. I am also one of the Virtual Projects Assistants for SoulCollage®, creating free videos and an online social networking presence since 2012. Beginning in April 2015, I will begin my career as one of the 13 SoulCollage® Facilitator Trainers in the world.

SparkPeople today began when SparkGuy (Chris Downie) created a Vision Collage to image his long-term goals. That sparked my interest. Because of my love for collage, and my experience with its ability to uniquely reclaim the parts of ourselves that overeat, that self-sabotage, that love nature, that bicker, that are compassionate, that are grateful, and so much more - I created SparkPeople's Vision Collage Gallery team. Join us as an foundational support for achieving your goals.

Now I'm remembering one of the drawbacks to doing a lot of image collages - my sofa is like a little island in a sea of magazines, folders and little snippets of paper!

It's funny, I noted when I posted the collage that I do the whole image selection very intuitively (that's why sometimes they leave a lot to be desired artistically) so I don't really know what I'm looking at until it's finished. Looking at it last night and today, I see that my Vision Collage really does represent each of my priorities, including those that I hadn't acknowledged to myself.

While the story will have a happy ending, I spent the morning in my attorney's office, discussing how to fend off foreclosure. In a few months, I will still have my lovely old farmhouse and the amount of land I want (and it will be paid off completely.) I just signed to do paid columns for a new website (more info to come later) and have a new gig doing freelance copy editing (in addition to being a professional gardener, should spring ever arrive.)

My attorney's main take-away was that I have made a solid decade of truly boneheaded maneuvers and seem to live on my own little planet where everyone is kind and generous, everything will be magically provided/taken away (like dirty dishes...) and a handshake is a binding contract. He promised to make all the mean people go away and give me a happy ending as long as I promised to, well, to grow up, maybe watch some Reality Tutorials on YouTube.

That's exactly what I see in my Vision Collage - a solid home that I make for myself, with what I value, and support myself by doing what I enjoy and am good at. I have to be willing to release the past and embrace a new independence and self-reliance, to recognize that I've gotten this far by an innate talent to land on my feet rather than by making well-thought out decisions. I need to change this if I want my life to be happy and healthy and stand on a good foundation, and I have the power to do this.

This Vision Board stuff really works!
