Spiralling in!

One of my passions in life has been ice dancing; my Sparkname and page are a reminder of that! On ice, as you spin or curl into a centered point, the skate blade etches a spiralling edge; to me it is a great image of motion and intention... both qualities I bring to this new endeavor in my life.

My kids are active and interesting people - my greatest desire is to continue to be healthy and active enough to share their interests and have some incredible experiences together. I ...

My kids are active and interesting people - my greatest desire is to continue to be healthy and active enough to share their interests and have some incredible experiences together. I have a wonderful man in my life who has been down the weightloss road ahead of me; he is a great mentor!

I was aware of my weight as early as grade one. As a ballet dancer and then a figure skater, my body seemed to be my greatest enemy. It took me years to just accept that I didn't have the body type that is typical for either activity. Even as a teen I did TOPS, a variety of fad diets, then later in life I tried Herbal Magic, Weight Watchers and Dr B. I lost 42 lbs on the last one, and it was the wake-up call. When my blood sugar dropped so low that I collapsed in the office, I realized that I couldn't do it anymore. Of course, the weight did not stay off and I spent quite awhile reflecting and journalling on what I wanted to do. I am still in that process; letting go of the "quick-fix" mentality and moving to a "life-style" way of thinking is a big change for me!

Through all of the sports and nutritian counselling I finally zero-ed in on the fact that my body needs more protein. Not long ago I spent some time reading the Wheat Belly diet - some of that info made sense to me. Then I came upon the Dukan Diet; it made even MORE sense for me. And then I bumped into a friend who was on the diet and having amazing success. It made me stop and think... and LOOK AROUND. I spent quiet a bit of time considering how this program would fit for me. And March 2013 I decided to give it an honest try - with my Spark friends beside me.

My Program:
Right now I am taking 2 yoga classes a week and ballroom dance lessons once a week. I am just winding up the curling season with my 2 teams and have 2 bonspeils on the books!

Personal Information:
I am a BC girl, relocated to AB!

I adore the mountains, I am a winter-lover and I definitely enjoy a good cup of coffee! I do not like chocolate - but will take black licorice any day! :)

Other Information:
My Dad loves to use the line "Impossible just takes a little longer". That saying has lead me to some pretty OCD behaviour, but it has the kernel of motivation that I admire! I DO think out of the box and I love a challenge, so -- if there is a motto I live by, that would be one!

(¯`♥´¯) .♥.•*¨`*♫.♥
.´*.¸.•´♥ Thanks for the friend add! Back at ya!

One thing I would suggest is: Keep collecting Spark Friends like candy!! It is calorie free and they always give you something to "chew on"!!

You can just "friend" them...no need to ask. We are friendly and don't bite!

You can find motivation and inspiration from everyone here, even those that are struggling (because you know how they feel!!) Welcome new people, Join teams, blog, join challenges, blog, be excited, blog. And did I mention: blog? The future fabulous you will want to look back at your journey and will want to encourage others!! When the excitement wanes (it WILL!!) put down your pom poms and practice your"Power Pose" in the background, (but don't leave and don't do any damage) and wait for the tide to turn...pick up your oars and keep rowing.

If you want to know what Power Posing is, see my blog called:

"I Double Dog Dare You!"

You can do this!!

“Change takes time. It takes time for the seeds to begin growing within, time to understand the process, time for the growth to mature, and time for the old self to die and fall away.” -Bryant McGill

Thank you for the beautiful red door. It opens to a world healthy living. And I'm never closing that door again! Never. Even if it rains.

Spark on!
