A little while ago I was going to post that I stopped my streak today.
My 1029 day streak.
The day was hectic and full of good things, but most of which took longer than planned. This left me without a daytime walk.
Now, over the course of 1028 days I have walked at night before. No big deal. It's cold. I have walked in the cold before. No big deal. It's pouring rain. I have walked in the pouring rain before. No big deal.
But somehow, it seemed like a big deal. Walking in the dark, cold, rain.
I'm already in my PJ's for Pete's Sake! And I just made myself a cup of sugar free hot cocoa.
Well, I just couldn't bring myself to write that I broke my streak today.
So, I got up, got my rain gear and put it on right over my PJ's, got my reflective vest and my lantern, and
I WENT FOR A HALF-MILE WALK. A Victory walk, really.
I felt like Rocky at the top of the steps. Jumping up and down with his arms raised in the air.
And it was a victory. Yes, tomorrow I will walk longer to try to make up for it. But today, I am happy. I walked 6914 steps for the day and usually it is over 10,000, but I am content. Often times I would be annoyed with myself because I didn't meet the goal. Today, it's different. I am proud of myself for getting up and getting it done. The distance doesn't matter, the act does.
