Christine's Spark Page

Hi! I'm Christine and I am a fighter. I joined Sparkpeople years ago to be thin. Now I'm here because I want to be healthy. Many people in my family have heart disease or have died at a young age due to a heart attack and I don't want to be there 20 years from now. I want to create good habits now that I can stick to for the rest of my life.

My ultimate weight goal is to be 140 pounds, or well within the range of what the doctors consider to be healthy. My fitness goal is to be able to work out for 60 minutes without stopping.

My first mini weight goal is to get under 170. I want so badly to see the 16- again! After that, I'll set another goal. I've been working on walking, even though it hurts my joints since my foot surgery. Currently, I can walk at 4 mph once around the lake by my apartment, which is about a mile. My next fitness goal is to make it twice around without losing momentum.

I'd also like to make one of my goals consistency. I want to follow through this time, to reach my goal, and to stay there.

My Goals:
I want to be healthy. My feet, ankles, and knees are straining under my extra weight. I hope to lose a few pounds at a time to feel better, not only physically, but emotionally as well. I want to look in the mirror and smile, not squeeze my fat and walk away disappointed.

My Program:
I plan on eating fruits, veggies, low fat dairy, and whole grains as much as possible, treating myself here and there with a little something sweet. The CORE program on WW works well so I'm trying to incorporate that here. I also plan to exercise at least 3 times a week, even though I set my goal at 5 times.

Personal Information:
My name is Christine and I am 26 years old. I am living in MD and working as a teacher. I enjoy cooking, knitting, and reading.

Other Information:
"I wake up every day and just thank God that I am alive. And before I go to bed at night, I thank God again for blessing me with such a beautiful day."

I believe the issue of plateauing has been addressed via an article or two - you may want to do a search on "plateau" and see what comes up......

Welcome and best wishes!
