SEASONS CHANGE ....

SEASONS CHANGE AND SO DO PEOPLE. SOMETIMES IT'S JUST LIFE SMACKING YOU IN THE FACE. SOMETIMES IT'S THOSE AROUND YOU. AND SOMETIMES - IT'S YOU. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO TRY TO BE THE PERSON THAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN YOU ARE INSIDE. NOW IT'S TIME TO MAKE THE OUTSIDE MATCH THE INSIDE.

emoticon Sorry about not answering you right away. The book, I think you would enjoy. It is Marianne Williamson't "A Course in Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual lessons for surrendering your weight forever". First, I love her work. I read "Everyday Grace" while my meditation buddy read "Return to Love" and we decided to take the opportunity to go see her when she came to speak in Ottawa Canada. It was not the talk I expected. However it was very powerful. About how prayer can change the world. And much of her book is about prayer and using it to change your "brain wiring". She says we cannot effectively lose weight until we learn to get rid of our baggage and we can't really do that until we give our lives and will over to God. The lessons are a step by step process for how to do that. There were so many things she said in the book that shocked and shook my beliefs. And to some extent I could not agree with everything she said. However I was reminded in prayer that even though she is a powerful spiritual healer and leader, she is just doing the best she can to describe how to do this. She is a strong believer in ceremony and ritual and I was skeptical sometimes reading it. But they were certainly transforming for me. I remember once in church hearing a speaker say he had worried about exactly how to word a sermon... and then realized that what a person hears is between them and God, not his job. His job was just to try his best to say what he felt God was telling him to say. It meant a lot to me because at that time I was on the worship team and it never failed, for all the good comments someone would always say it was too loud, or they would have liked a different song, or some criticism. So I tried not to be critical but just do the assignments. And.. wow. My prayer has become so much better and I truly believe my eating disorder is gone. What I have to deal with now are the habits rather than the compulsions. So she provides the way and it is up to us to make the connection. emoticon I think for someone who does not believe in God it might be hard, but for me it certainly has changed me.
