I started working toward becoming a healthier version of me on January 18, 2013. At that time, my goal was to consistently use the gym membership I've been paying for and to curb my mindless snacking. I've never been a huge binge eater. But I am definitely the girl who would forego a normal dinner to eat an entire bag of Doritos.
After losing 18 pounds and then hitting a three-week plateau, I decided to jump in and start using some more of the Spark tools. I had only been using the weight tracker, but thought why not go for it and see what else I can find to motivate me. I haven't lost my motivation; I just figured some more couldn't hurt. So for some reason, I hit the "reset" button and now I have 11 pounds to go.
I'm trying not to get sucked in to the message boards. I believe there is a wealth of information to be found there, but previous message board experiences have not been kind to me so I probably won't be posting there. Just a personal preference for my own sanity. I'm a shy, quiet person and tend to sacrifice face-to-face interaction for online conversation and I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone... which includes meeting new people and going on new adventures.
I am walking the Color Run on August 17th and my goal weight is to be at 135 at that point. I have since modified by goal weight to 130, but original goal of 135 on 8/17 remains.
Original Goal: 135 lbs by 8/17
New Goal: 130 lbs by 9/15
Ultimate Goal: BE HAPPY!!
Trying to follow the 80/20 rule.... it's probably closer to 65/35 at this point, but that is amazingly better than it was a year ago!
The biggest changes that I've made that have had the biggest impact were:
- Eating breakfast every single day, no exceptions!
- Limiting pop
- Completely eliminating mindless snacking

Yoga done outdoors near water... sounds heavenly.
Today I stopped at a nearby shopping center and saw a rainbow of colored workout clothing in motion. There was some sort of exercise class going on in the parking lot. I didn't have time to drive over and investigate, but I was amazed at the sight. Tomorrow I'm going to stop and see if something new (perhaps a gym) opened up!
