Restarting from a New Starting Point

Hi There! I've recently changed employment, relationship and living conditions (quit my job, my 7-year relationship, and moved across the country). Mid-life crisis? Nope. Just correcting what was wrong in my life. Now I need to adjust to my new and improved life, and enjoy it in slightly healthier ways, rather than flagrantly indulging with every opportunity. I regained 10lbs in the process, and am NOT about to buy larger clothes again! It is coming back off, starting now. :-)

I'm Sue, from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I've been a SP member almost two years, and I underwent a lot of changes to get to this point. I relocated from Waterloo to Sherwood Park, Alberta (I changed my SP name to reflect that move), ended a relationship, quit my job to become "independently employed" and am basically starting over, to live the life that I want to live.

... it's time that I "get over" the fact that I lost 25lbs, and get on with the rest of my life. Starting today - March 20, 2011 - I'm no longer going to live my life as someone who struggles with her weight, as I have all of my adult life.

Starting today, I'm going to live a healthy, balanced life, making good choices (instead of acting out of habit), listening to my body, and finding a balance between my personal goals and my career goals which will support them.

In the past year, I have managed to lose 30lbs that I've been carrying around since my 3-month French language exchange program at the age of 15. I've always been very active, and accepted my weight due to my fitness level, and only realized recently that I could, in fact, lose the excess weight by moderating my eating. What a revelation! I have embraced healthy eating, but still struggle with the mental game of hyper-conditioned eating, food cues, and other overeating struggles. I am working on overcoming these mental hurdles and breaking old habits, rewriting my preferences, and trying to see food as fuel and nourishment rather than comfort and reward.
