Aloha Sparkers! Personal Info: *************** My name is Lea May and I am 34 years old. I grew up in the Philippines, studied very hard in Nursing and presently working as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts. I am married to my wonderful husband (sp sumith2008), we lived for 5 years in Honolulu Hawaii before moving to Massachusetts last October 2007. My hobbies and Interests mirrors my husband. Cooking, Baking, Photography, Drawing/Painting, Travel , Collecting Rare items (Gold/Silver Coins and Anniversary Clocks) and playing the piano. My Journey: ************** I joined, Spark People on November 20th 2008 by the request of my husband who has been active on SP since July 08 (He has lost 30 lbs since July and is setting a good example for me). So My weight loss journey is just starting. Me and My husband have been overweight for many years, mainly due to our lack of common sense when it comes to sensible eating. It was a lot easier to keep our weight down back in Hawaii, because our lifestyle was more active (Hiking, Beach and Taking Photos). Even though we loved eating out or cooking at home our weight kept fairly consistent. When we moved to Massachusetts, we quickly gained, close to 40 lbs due to our inactivity and staying indoors (cold weather made us lazy). My husband started, to have health problems since we moved to Massachusetts (Back pain, Joint pains and Getting sick often) and he decided to change his life by utilizing the wealth of information on the web as well as Spark people to make a permanent lifestyle change for the both of us. I being able to cook delicious and bounty food didn't help our cause, so for the past 5 months we have swept our Kitchen from all Junk Foods (Sweets, Potato chips Salty foods etc) and replaced them with Healthy Alternatives (Fruits and Vegetables) and it made a world of difference. I am not much of an exercise person (due to my graveyard work schedule 11pm – 7am) but that is starting to change as we adopt our new lifestyle. I will close for now, by saying that I am starting with small baby steps..... your moral support and friendship are very greatly appreciated, I would be honored to be your spark buddy. In addition, your thoughts, comments and opinions will be my pillars of strength to reach my goal....
