Sunsets are like watching a painting come alive

During my cancer treatment, I developed a distaste for food. I was never hungry and lost weight because of that. Although I was encouraged to eat, I simply had no desire for any food, not even my usual junk food.

During my cancer treatment, I developed a distaste for food. I was never hungry and lost weight because of that. Although I was encouraged to eat, I simply had no desire for any food, not even my usual junk food.

Deep down, I knew I couldn't keep doing my treatment and not eat, so I started juicing and I found I was giving myself more vegetables and fruits than I normally would have if I was eating them. Juicing made it easier to get the nutrients and vitamins my body needed during my treatment, and in doing this, I started to get my hunger back.

Oddly, though, my hunger wasn't for sweets or chips or the usual food I used to eat before treatment. My hunger was for vegetables and fruits. So I kept doing my juicing. Then I got into blending smoothies and found them very nutritional because I was blending vegetables and fruits I've never had or didn't like to eat.

A vegetable/fruit is nothing like it is when it's juiced or added to a smoothie. I hated spinach and now I have it every day, including in my salads. I had never eaten kale, but now have it almost every day in a green smoothie. I could never eat an avocado as I didn't like the texture or taste, but it's a great addition to a fruit or veggie or soup smoothie.

I found a great book called "The Green Smoothie Miracle" and found it very educational. It's loaded in nutritional information for living a healthier greener life. It has recipes for juicing, smoothies, soups, and frozen treats like icecream, but without the dairy.

When my treatment ended, I just kept up with my juicing and smoothies. I started eating more salads and my protein was in tuna packed in water, chicken breast strips without the skin, eggs and veggie patties.

A miracle is happening - I'm not just losing weight, I'm losing inches and getting more educated by the foods I'm choosing. My cravings for sugar and high carb foods has disappeared. I'm eating healthy salads loaded in various vegetables. I stopped drinking cow milk and now drink almond milk. So much has changed and instead of thinking that it's not going to last, these changes are lasting longer than anything I've tried before when it comes to my weight.

I love getting up in the morning and looking forward to my day ahead. I'm happier than I've ever been before. I feel great, and although I still have more weight and inches to lose, the end of my journey doesn't seem so undaunting as it has in the past. I have more confidence in myself now and everytime I look in the mirror, I give myself a thumbs up and a smile of encouragement that this is the journey I am meant to be on. I tell myself how proud I am of myself and how much I love the whole me.

I'm doing great, making healthy choices and feel ready to add more activity into my life. I look forward to what this journey has for me. I can see the final result and I look awesome!
