Update: 03/27/2015 In the Fall of 2012 I got back on the Wagon with Spark People. I had been at goal but within such a short time, 6 months, I put all the weight back on and then some. I was working 10 hour days and also 24/7 caring for elder mother. I was waking up exhausted. I did leave work eventually because my mother required 24/7 care. I had a caregiver but it is really sad when you pay out more than you bring in. I started my new journey 11/2012 and my the end of 2012 lost around ...

I was working 10 hour days and also 24/7 caring for elder mother. I was waking up exhausted. I did leave work eventually because my mother required 24/7 care. I had a caregiver but it is really sad when you pay out more than you bring in. I started my new journey 11/2012 and my the end of 2012 lost around 10 pounds. The toughest time of year, but I did it. More than weight loss, I was getting back to healthy habits such as recording my intake of food and fitness minutes. Fitness I started out with Coach Nichol's 10 minute videos and expanding to Spark People Challenges. I did not jump into anything too much that I could not live with. It has been a long road... Two years to be exact to loose close to 40 pounds. I finally entered maintenance sometime in Nov of 2014. I also ran my First Half Marathon in 4 years since moving away from FL and my Running Friends.
Maintaining and keeping my Lifestyle changes now.
I follow Paleo eating mostly Organic. I even have been growing Organic Fruits and Veggies in my Garden.
So far I have signed up for 3 Half Marathons, the First one being the Rock N Roll- April 12th. I am so Happy with my accomplishments and truly Happy with the people I have met on Spark People. One thing I have learned is change does not happen overnight. Now that I have met my goal, the challenge of maintenance and staying at my goal has begun. I recently signed up for the Spring 5% Challenge and also the Maintenance Team. Spark People has become my Life. This is not just a diet but a way of life with ups and downs.. I have been able to stop taking a lot of medications and I feel so much better. I want to live a Long Healthy Life and be Active. I am 60 years old now and feel as good as I did when I was thirty.
Update 5/2014: A few years ago I had surgery and have not gotten back to Long Distance Running. Last year I started training for a 10 K and got sick in September 2013 for two months. By the time I was well again it was too cold for this Florida Gal, now here in NC. I have been walking and doing some running. I also have been doing lots of Cardio DVD's and Weight Training. I still have my goals to get back to running. Determination= Victory!
12/2009 Love2Run Love2Run Hi! I'm Sharon and I started running after I had my son at the age of 35. Moving to the Florida area, I invested in a jogging stroller and ran for hours along the Bay. I ran my first Race,
The Gasparilla Classic Long Distance 15K and ever since got the Running Bug. I have met so many runners and at that time, mother's with children and jogging strollers. I ran my first Marathon, Gulf Beaches and did the best time ever. I was 9 minutes from qualifying for the Boston Marathon. I have a one time goal to run that, hopefully 2012. 2011 has been an unusual year for me, very challanging as I'm sure with everyone.
I am so Happy that my friend told me about SparkPeople. All of the tools have really motivated me and kept me on track.

*Substituting foods for healthy choices. *Eliminate wheat, dairy and sugar since I have a food allergy. Dairy will be tough but gradually wean off.
*Start Half Marathon Training after New Year.
*30 Minute Cardio 6 x week
*2015 increase fitness minutes to 2000 per month.
I have been married for 31 years January 29th and have one son who will be turning 25. Caring for an Elder Parent has taken us away from the Sunshine State.
Adjusting to Hills and Colder temps and a different Life Style.
I sure miss Tampa Bay and the Water, but most of all my Sunshine Running Buds.
