Susan's Window Seat

"I am SO NOT a multi-tasker! I can only focus on one thing at a time... so now it is time to really focus on controlling my weight."
That, my friends, was my introduction at Spark. Now , about a year and a half later, I'm still at the same weight.
But this journey is awesome. I'm so glad I joined. During that year, I didn't quite lose weight, but I have gained. Gained knowledge. Gained wisdom. Gained awareness. Gained enthusiasm. Gained hope.
I now have more control ...

But this journey is awesome. I'm so glad I joined. During that year, I didn't quite lose weight, but I have gained. Gained knowledge. Gained wisdom. Gained awareness. Gained enthusiasm. Gained hope.
I now have more control over myself than ever before. And this is IT. 2011 is MY year! I'm gonna need your help, because, generally, I've been in a bad pattern and patterns are hard to break. But Spark and my fellow Spark Warriors have made a nice sized dent and that bad pattern is crumbling.
My moment in life holds a lot of promise, because my children are at a nice convenient age for Mommy to get to work on herself. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help me get this year going.
#1 Be certain to JOIN in the physical activity of our little home school. After all P.E. IS needed!
#2. Enjoy w/o routines with teen daughter who is goal oriented right now. woohoo!
#3. Try taking my thyroid med in evening and see if that will increase my energy level during the day. I've been hearing of some success in my Thyroid Circles. including parallel weight loss.
#4. Perhaps get some financial assistance for food. In that way, we can ensure that we can AFFORD all this healthy food that's supposed to change people's lives.
#5. Participate daily with Spark. Logging, Tracking and TALKING. wink.
#6. Continue a very beneficial friendship with my friend Faith, who has been a continuous, EXCELLENT example of 'sticking to it'. She has lost around 70 pounds in just 2 years since being inspired by Spark.
#7. Attempt to get at least one "I'm PROUD of you, Ski!' once a week after blogging on Mondays about something (truthful) that I succeeded at in the previous week! So, I'm gonna need your help on that one. wink.

My Goals:
My goals are#1 stop GAINING!
#2 Get trim
#3 Gain energy
#4 Be able to walk behind my husband's chair to get to my seat at his parent's dining room table without asking him to scoot in or, in his case, get up! I never quite appreciated that ability before.
#5 Feeling that sigh of pleasure when ANYTHING can basically fit, or at least close enough!

My Program:
My program is just getting kick started. Right now, I'm trying to use the 15 Minute Total Body Workout dvd at least 3 times a week. I'm tracking what I eat and enjoy Sparks help in counting everything up for me! I'm also trying to fit in those 8 glasses of water.

Personal Information:
I am 41, happily married for 18 years, have 10 children, 9 with us, 1 in heaven (miscarriage).
Live in a house not much bigger than my computer desk (slight exaggeration).
I enjoy writing and drawing for children. We are a Christian family trying to put God first!
My husband is being trained to take over a plumbing business. We would like to have a small hobby farm some day.

Other Information:
I'm a book lover! An ideal quiet time would include a Window Seat, some fluffy pillows (at least 3 ), a fleece blanket, or Grandma's quilt, a few favorite books to choose from, some snacks (preferrably not healthy, sorry, but...TRUTH! Let you know when that changes!) and a big hot chocolate! Oh and don't forget the Quiet! Basically, I lean toward old fashioned stories.
Favorite author: Janette Oke...Love Comes Softly series. And yeah, all the rest of hers also.
Anne of Green Gables books and movies.
Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensiblity, Emma . Etc. I'll think of more later!
