Being healthy to me is from the inside out. Feeling good is a lot more valuable than looking good. For when I feel good, I start doing good for self and others. It is a win / win life goal.
The above was my original text. New addition as of August 20, 2016 ...
I was always an active person. I liked to walk everywhere. I watched what I ate. Because of migraines, I had to eat healthy and avoid all culprits at all costs. In April 2014, I was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer. Yes, I had some symptoms of bloating and digestive issues. I thought those were normal during the monthly cycle. Guess what? No, they are not. Two surgeries and two chemotherapy rounds later, I am still here. I am thankful for each and every day I have. I am a born again Christian. This ordeal strengthened my relationship with my Lord Jesus. Oncologist wants me to start chemo again next month and perhaps another surgery. You see, ovarian cancer is an aggressive type. It keeps coming back. I am not worried. Whatever happens, happens. My main focus is Jesus Christ.
If you (woman) or someone you know have some symptoms of persistent bloating, eating less and feeling fuller, abdominal pain, trouble with your bladder; talk with your doctor. Doc may dismiss these. Be persistent. A Pap smear does not detect this type of cancer. A pelvic / rectal exam, transvaginal ultrasound, and a blood test of CA125 can detect this type of cancer. The sad thing is: it is usually found in late stages like me. Survival statistics aren't very encouraging. So please, please, please, please, I beg you to get checked out if you have symptoms or something doesn't feel right with your body.
Causes? I am told it was bad luck. For some women, it is genetics. For some, it is talc use. Who really knows? Check out online searches for more information. Stay healthy. Stay sparking!

t takes strength to be firm,
It takes courage to be gentle.
It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.
It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubt.
It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.
It takes strength to feel a friend's pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.
It takes strength to endure abuse,
It takes courage to stop it.
It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on another.
It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.
It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.
