Motivational Photo #1
Here I am at the cutest little restaurant in Kentucky - The Shady Lane Cafe. My husband is a WONDERFUL cook - and I love him ever so much.
I have been struggling. But I refuse to give up. I found SP back in 2007, after I'd been diagnosed with diabetes. I lost 20 pounds that I've basically kept off for that entire time.
But 20 is not enough. Not nearly. In fact, over time, my diabetes continued to progress despite my minor weight loss.
I am here to face the truth that I am a food junkie and a sugar addict.
And I am here to get my diabetes under control. This is perhaps my greatest challenge. I am watching diabetes affect me. I have no insurance. SP may be my only chance to survive this horrible condition.
If today is the first day of the rest of my life, let me get my life moving now.
I will need help. I am a most intransigent soul, it seems. But I'm here, and I'm trying. Wish me luck, fellow travelers.
Lose 90 pounds.
10 minutes of exercise per day (at least!!).
Get my blood sugar down to a normal level.
Measure my blood sugar.
Walk. Walk. Walk.
Track what I'm eating.
Keep in touch with my SP family.
My husband and I own the best and cutest restaurant in Kentucky - The Shady Lane Cafe!!
"I shall pass this way but once.. Therefore, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again."
The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things of life." -Robert Louis Stevenson
"Live a life that will make you kindly and friendly to everyone about you, and you will be surprised what a happy life you will live." -Charles M. Schwab
"The world is a great mirror. It reflects back what you are. If you are loving, if you are friendly, if you are helpful, the world will prove loving and friendly to you. Your world is what you are." -Thomas Drier
"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to success, but I am bound to live up to what light I have." Abraham Lincoln

I've also realized that getting healthy and staying healthy and at a healthy weight are going to be lifelong projects for me. I find it helps so much to know I'm not in it alone, that there are so many other SparkPeople out there who will support me and who I will help support too. You can do it!
