Welcome to our place! Relax with us by the pool and watch the puppies romp. Come take a walk with me at sunrise and sunset--the sky here goes on forever! No wonder they decorate with pink and blue in Florida--that's the color of the vast cloud mounds in the sky, where the lightning plays at any time of day. You never know what might be going on around here, but good food, friends, characters, physical activity, and my thoughts, goals, and interests of the moment are going to be part of it.
When I first joined SparkPeople 10 years ago, I think, I'd seen my weight creeping up and decided that I needed to be more aware of what I was eating and how much I was exercising.
Well, it just happened again!
Having a weekly restaurant news column in the local paper is NOT a great method of self-control.
Note to self: It's never okay to just eat and drink whatever you damn please!
Make sure to eat at least SOME breakfast every day, for a kick-start!
Walk a total of 5 miles, 10,000 steps, a day.
Eat only when hungry and stop when full. (This is NOT easy, by the way.)
Do daily pilates-type exercises to keep my hips and back limber.
Upper-body weight training every other day.
68, with an emotional age of about 36
Went from 172 in February 2005 to a low of 111 several summers ago (much too low for me)
Now aiming to lose at least 10 pounds, mainly to fit into more of my clothes and have a flatter tummy.
This, too, isn't always easy, because of the abovementioned newspaper gig and Bill's great cooking.
My passions lately are writing and getting to be expert in the local restaurant scene. Retirement is proving far busier than full-time employment!
Secrets of Success

I think about you all the time and wonder how you are. You never blog any more and it was my social life. LOL. You can see my real social life leaves much to be desired.
re the blog and the fire - I think around here people have an air of expectation that others will go above and beyond to serve them. I've encountered it many times, especially by the elderly who will latch onto you in a store like you are their personal shopper, "Get me that off the top shelf." I feel like adding, "Please. Say please and maybe I will get it for you." They will keep you hopping if you let them. This house that was in danger is a historic house and is beautiful. One of my favorites in the area and we could not stand to see the poor animals in danger. Hopefully this guy is done with smoking meat. You should never build a fire and leave it.
After losing 4 pets in a year, 8 months later we are at it again. It's inevitable. We get old and we die. Hate it.
Benny and I have been getting a lot done around here though. Lots of changes going on.
How are things with you, the girls, and Bill?

Sue, I don't have photoshop. But I do have an editor called Zoombrowser that came with my camera. Still, other than cropping I haven't had any luck editing the altered pictures either. Not to improve them anyway. I've had the most luck trying the different effects. Oil Painting II is kinder than Oil painting (or vice versa) and Oil On Canvas is the kindest to me. GGS seems to fare well with most. It must not like my old skin. Ugh.

If you've used it; should pop up in your browser history, I think. Maybe not. :)

The process is called "posterization". I just looked it up and there are quite a few other free apps out there. I haven't explored them but seem to have different approaches. Have fun!
