Trying to lose weight... for good this time!

I've been overweight most of my life. I've gotten motivated, lost some weight, but always stalled at a plateau once I got down to 200 lbs. I've never been able to lose past that for some reason - probably a mental block.

I've recently had to squeeze myself into airplane seats and suck in when trying to get that seat beat to buckle closed. This is just so embarrassing, and I'm uncomfortable the entire flight. I want to get fit and lose weight this time and actually mean it - not ...

I want to get fit and lose weight this time and actually mean it - not yo-yo up and down like I have done the rest of my life.

My parents and sister are all healthy weights. When I was younger and overweight, I know my dad was ashamed to have me, the fat one, in the family. This was very detrimental to my emotional wellbeing and my self-esteem. When we'd go on family vacations, he'd take photos of my mom and my sister - like the fun, candid ones - but never of me. I even brought up this point to him when I was older, and he denied that he ever did that. But it was very obvious to me that he was upset to have an obese daughter. I've always felt that he's embarrassed to be around me.

Lastly, I'd like to develop a better relationship with food. I crave all the wrong foods - sweets, fast food, anything and everything bad. When people say things like, "Eww McDonalds is so gross" I just remain silent because I love eating that food even though I know it's so unhealthy.

Thank you for your response on my blog today. I will definatly try drinking water when I know im full but feel hungry. I guess over time my mind will correct itself. Thank you again.
