Making healthy food choices and exercising. But, "Oh My, it is hard to get myself interested in exercising." Spark People and the Spark Activity Tracker have made a huge difference. I now am starting to enjoy walking! Needless to say I am also starting to lose weight and have much more energy.

Personal Information:
I am a retired CPA and love to sew and quilt for my family. I have been married for 50* years and have four grown children, two boys and two girls, plus three "perfect" grandchildren. My husband and I often travel to interesting places. I grew up in Washington state and currently live in Colorado.

Mini-Challenge for this week: “Count Your Blessings”

emoticon emoticon Don’t just count calories, and don't just count your reps … “Count Your Blessings.” Giving thanks can do a lot more than just change your outlook on life. It can also benefit your body, your health, and even the number on the scale. Be thankful of what your body can do, and think of exercise as a gift you’ve been given—rather than a chore. . . and you’ll be more likely to stick with it!

"Take your body for a ride. Do the Monday Mile. Skip the elevator, take the stairs!"

Walking's not your thing … do something for 15 min (= 1 mile). Just move!

Mini-Challenge for you this week: "Hit Pause" emoticon emoticon

The next time you’re tempted to reach for that chocolate ice cream (or whatever you're craving), stop & “hit pause.” Consider your decision for about 10 minutes. The majority of us don’t hesitate long enough when it comes cravings.

“Hit pause,” and take a little time to decide if it’s really worth the splurge. If you ultimately decide it’s worth it, pay close attention to the texture, aroma, and flavor of that special treat. Savor & enjoy every morsel. It will help you feel satisfied with a smaller portion.
