Sweaty is the new sexy!

September, 2014, Journey REDUX!
I had lost ~17 lbs, with the great help of Spark people and being really dedicated in my life, I was in the best shape of my life. I got down to 131 at one point but, also, I was super strong, healthy, happy, capable.

Well. I guess its hard to really understand what happened, but, the main conclusion is that doing "maintenance" mode is a different skill set and I didn't succeed there, this time. I gained all the weight back...

I'm back here again to look for help from SP and also the great SP community is supporting me getting back to achieving my goals and those great feelings of pride about being the healthy me I had found.
LET'S DO THIS!

**********
2009 intro:
************
I was in a couple of car accidents (ala person v. car) when I was young, and subsequently have a spinal condition. Since then I have felt very limited in what physical activities I am capable of or allowed to do. The fear of vertebral progression has hovered over me.

It has now been a full ten years since my diagnosis and my condition has remained stable. I feel empowered to explore ways of being active and fully believe that becoming more fit will only benefit my life in many ways.

My goal is to eat better, be more active, stronger, and lower my body fat percentage. Weight loss would be a delightful bonus but not my main goal.

My Goals:
Summer 2011:
I feel like I'm doing it on my own for the first time, now that my 2 day a week class has ended. The test is on to see if I can maintain my momentum for myself. I am very close to my goal weight, what's left is basically vanity pounds. I do however have some room to improve on my inches, so I want to keep at it to lower my body fat percentage to the "fitness" level.

Objective goals:
-Be able to run the 4 miles without having to stop
-Get in good swim work outs regularly
-Do more effective ST sessions more regularly
-Swim 650 meters in 12 minutes ( I can do 550 now)
-Waste less calories on alcohol

- Wear a bikini for the first time (hey, I can dream, right? :P )

My Program:
Diet:
-Get back into making big, healthy meals at home for left overs. Getting home late after working out has left me with less chances that I eat well these days...
-BRING FOOD TO WORK
-drink less booze! Those calories are fun but this plateau between me and abs is killin' me

Fitness:
-Monday 3 or 4 miles community jog downtown
-Tues and Thurdsay do legit GYM workout with Strength training the main focus!
Wednesday-awesome swimming
There! That's four! Get in at least one on the weekend and we're GOLDEN

OVERALL: Try to get at least 30 minutes of movement in 6 days a week.

Personal Information:
From sunny Tucson, Arizona!! AWESOME place to be outdoor all those NON-summer months. I LOVE summers here, though! Bring it on! :D

Other Information:
I love
-nerdy sci fi shows (seriously, everything with Star in the title: Star Trek, Stargate SG 1, Battlestar Gallactica...) Buffy, Firefly, Big Bang Theory, oh god too many to admit...
-50's pin up beauty that I'm not girly enough to really do
-Good beer
-Looking at my fledgling muscles as I walk
- Surprising myself
- The feeling I have on the walk home after a kick ass swim
- Being silly with my friends
- Telling the WHOLE STORY (otherwise, what's the point?)
-Getting that bonus spin on the SP wheel, haha

I dont have a smart phone. I have a fitbit one and I sync it with my computer. It comes with a dongle. Works out just fine. If you get a fitbit one it will sync wirelessly with your computer through the dongle. It uses one of your usb ports on the computer. Setup is a breeze. If you do get one I would recommend either the One or the Force. The force you can wear on your wrist and it displays your stats for you like the one, but you can buy different colored wrist bands for it. The one, you are stuck and I am constantly losing mine and I have gone through several clips, which is what you use to attach it to your clothing.

dont know if you really wanted an answer but the first two walks take about 15mins each, the dog walk about the same depending on the time my dogs like to sniff around. The classes are 1.5 hrs and the walk to myu hubby's office is another 30 mins or so. So it really does add up but its spread out and what else would i do with that time? EAT? HAHA!

So to get in my steps I do a variety of things. I walk several times a day. I walk with my coworkers. We walk once in the morning and try to get in a walk in the afternoon. this is usually good for about 3500k each time. Then I walk my dogs, another 2500k, not to mention the additional steps I make between visiting with office personnel, grabbing something from our cafeteria ( usually a BIG cup of water 32oz or so). Then, I do a spin class and a bootcamp class for about 1.5 hrs of exercise ( not a lot of steps, though). Occasionally, I will walk 1.5 miles down to my husbands office from mine. this gives me another 4-5k steps. So, in a nuts shell it sounds like I am moving all the time and I pretty much am, lol! You should invest in a fitbit, totally worth every penny. You can get the smallest one for around $59. They are so great!
