Mummy Pig's Lifestyle Hack

Hi :) I'm a 35 year old mother of 2 who went from being super slim as a teenager, to 104kg over 17 years.

First things first....

Hi :) I'm a 35 year old mother of 2 who went from being super slim as a teenager, to 104kg over 17 years.

First things first....

I've found that regardless of whether you are 50, 100, 200, 300 pounds or whatever over weight... regardless of the level of your ability or disability.... whether you are able bodied or disabled.... wheelchair bound or running around... if you are recuperating from illness, injury or surgery... No matter what your own personal circumstances are.... the first steps to making a lifestyle change are the same:

(1) Get educated
(2) Get motivated
(3) Get moving

Calories (Energy) in / Calories (Energy) Out

If you want to lose weight you need to adjust the balance...

Reduce your calories below the amount you need to maintain weight... your weight will reduce SLOWLY

Increase your exercise, but keep eating the same... your weight will reduce SLOWLY

Reduce the calories AND increase your exercise... you will lose weight AND get fitter AND get healthier

Increase calories again without increasing the exercise... you WILL put on weight again

It's not so hard once you 'get it' :)

Goals:
(1) I will have lost weight and will be approximately 64kg, which means I will have lost a total of 40kg (88lbs);
(2) I will be stronger, particularly in my arms, and will be able to do full body pushups and cartwheels;
(3) I will have more endurance and will be able to run, skate or ride my bike. I will be able to play with my girls;
(4) I will be more confident and relaxed in myself, and will be able to have fun with my family.

My ongoing weight loss goals:

Start weight 104.1kg...BMI of 39...healthy weight for height is 54-67kg...I'm medium-large framed, so aim for 60kg but might be more comfortable a few kilo heavier - lets 'weight' (pun intended!) and see!!

...aim to lose 1kg per week on average.....

...10kg off by mid Aug 2011 ***Achieved 26/07/2011***

...20kg off by end Oct 2011

...30kg off by end Feb 2012

...40kg off by my birthday in May 2012

Actual target weights (losing 5% of my weight at a time):

21/05/2011 starting weight - 104kg (well, 104.1 but I'm rounding down!) (BMI 39)

Target 1 - 99kg (BMI 37) ***Achieved 16/06/2011***
Target 2 - 94kg (BMI 35) ***Achieved 26/07/2011***
Target 3 - 89kg (BMI 33) ***Achieved 08/09/2011***
Target 4 - 84kg (BMI 31)
Target 5 - 79kg (BMI 29 - no longer obese!)
Target 6 - 74kg (BMI 28)
Target 7 - 69kg (BMI 26)
Target 8 - 64kg (BMI 24 - healthy weight range & no longer overweight!)
GOAL - 59kg (BMI 22)

Waist circumference: 93cm (13/09/11)
Goal is to be below 80cm
(above this you have an increased risk of cholesterol & heart disease - above 88cm you have a substantially increased risk)

My Goals:
Click on the read more link in the intro text please! There was soooooo not enough space here :)

My Program:
SparkPeople :)

Motivation & Consistency!!

2 trips to the gym per week, abs on days in between and whatever other stuff I fit in!

Giving the c25k program a go too :)

I use my own calorie levels and amend these on SP so that I take into account my personal activity levels. It's working so far, with a steady weight loss of around 5kg (11bs) per month and I will stick with that as long as it does!!

Personal Information:
Not telling other than I have 2 little girls of 3 and 1 years

Other Information:
If you are recuperating from an illness, disabled, wheelchair bound, unable to walk without assistance.... Hey, even if you're none of these things and just want to join a great team that will get your motivation through the roof, then join the Chair Exercise Team!

All are welcome, regardless of ability or disabilty.

See my SparkTeams to the left for the link :)

Wow... I was the subject of your last comment :) I am honored! Thanks for the support. Two days in and feeling like I am on fire. I am sure the smoldering and sputtering times will come, but for now it feels great to be back on track! How are you going?
