I'm going to be turning my "scary age" this year: 27. Nope, its not 30, its 27. And I've been trying to no avail for over 10 years to lose weight. So in light of my turning my scary age this year, I thought it would be the perfect time and the perfect year to finally put myself in check!

I do workout, but I'm not gonna lie, I kinda hate it -- actually, I hate it a bit less now since I've decided to do fun things as a workout instead of dreaded workout videos or circuit / interval training. That being said, I try to do different things each time so I don't dread the experience. Most of the exercise I do are Clubbell work (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owDJGnXGnx
Y), Body weigh exercises / circuit training, circular strength training, playing Volleyball and occasionally I'll do a Billy Blanks Tae Bo Cardio video. I've recently incorporated yoga into my fitness plan, and after all these years of disliking the practice, I've grown to love it!

I've got a whopping 70 lbs to lose and even though I do these things, (I try to be exercise at least 3 times a week, but I admit, life sometimes gets in the way and it doesn't work out that way), I don't seem to lose any significant amount of weight (I tend to plateau after losing 15 - 20 lbs, then discouraged, I give up).

I try to eat low carb most of the time (and by "low carb" I mean not grains, such as wheat, rice, pastas, breads, etc.), and I eat healthy fats, lots of protein, BUT (here's the kicker) I have a vigorous sweet tooth and the appetite of a pregnant woman. So more often than not, I'm plagued by my hourly trips to the refrigerator (yes, I said HOURLY). Oh and did I mention that I work in a restaurant? I've recently started chomping on the more healthier things on the menu (fish, steak salads, yadda yadda) but as the night wears on, I'll admit, I do raid the french fries bowl more often than I should... But I'm working on that.

I think I basically joined this site because I needed a support group. I'm looking to meet new friends in the area (Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood, FL) that have similar fitness goals as I do and a workout buddy / support system and someone to tell me in their best Darth Vader voice to put down the Krispy Kreme and pick up an apple instead. Most of my friends are very fit (or athletic and skinny) and I'm, well, not! And I'm kinda tired of it.

My Goals:
To look like Jessica Biel. And to increase muscle stamina, cardio stamina, tone muscles and increase flexibility and balance. Oh and did I mention look like Jessica Biel?


My Program:
I try to mix it up: I do clubbell work, bodyweight exercises, circuit training (like tabata), tae bo cardio videos, play Volleyball and yoga. I try to be active 3 times a week or more.

I also consider my job part of my cardio since I'm on my feet, running around a large restaurant, anywhere from 6 to 13 hours a day, depending on how busy we are.



Personal Information:
I'll be 27 in April, live in Hollywood / Fort Lauderdale, FL, but I'm originally from Long Island, NY (Ronkonkoma to be exact). I work as a waitress in an Irish Pub and have 2 fat cats and a Welsh Corgi.

I like photography, music, dancing, volleyball, yoga, cooking, reading and other stuff too that I can't think of at the moment.

    emoticon this weight loss journey is such a struggle. I'm sure just like me you have been ready to throw in the towel....but thankfully emoticon and all of my Sparkies that are on it. We have to make a pact to keep each other motivated. We will all have our emoticon days, our emoticon and of course our emoticon days.....the important thing is to be there for each other not just on the days that we feel emoticon but on the days we feel like emoticon as well.

    I am here to tell you that you guys make me feel like I can do it....so I know that emoticon ! We have all set goals that we want to reach and we have an emoticon support system so let's keep it going....

    I promise to emoticon you when you need it and be your emoticon when you are emoticon bootay! I know that we can do this!!! So let's rock out June!!!! emoticon
