Getting Fit after 50

I'm in my late 50's.. 58 this month, and want to stay strong and keep my weight down as I had a total hip replacement at the age of 55 due to severe osteoarthritis.

I also have fibromyalgia and have managed this condition since the age of 35.

Update.. I've been here long enough now to turn 58 and have been in the maintenance mode for over 8 months. I actually dropped below my original goal after many GERD type problems. I kind of like my new size now and may ...

Update.. I've been here long enough now to turn 58 and have been in the maintenance mode for over 8 months. I actually dropped below my original goal after many GERD type problems. I kind of like my new size now and may try and stay in the 107 to 110 range as I feel it's good for my arthritis problems. I thought it was too low for awhile as others kept telling me I was too thin, but I feel good now at this weight, plus I'm only 5'3 and this makes my BMI 18.8.. a good healthy number.

I gave up gluten and coffee in May 2013.. and neither has done much for the GERD, but I do notice an improvement in my arthritis pain levels, especially in my hands and wrists. Is it gluten related, that I do not know, but having less pain sure is nice!

Spark has kept me going all these months and I sure like the community support and plan on hanging around for a long time!

My Program:
walking up to 60 minutes each day with dogs.

cycling, stationary bike for winter months 4 times per week, up to 50 minutes per session

I'm married with no children and am retired.

I retired early due to my osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia.
