I have never been the skinny girl, but I was the athletic girl. I loved sports and played softball, basketball, volleyball, rode my bike everywhere, and would work out just because I loved it. I was about 125 in high school. Then college happened. I did gain some weight in college but then I found a workout partner and we started going to the gym regularly. That on top of working full time as a chef in a restaurant and going to school full time (walking to all of my classes even though I lived slightly off campus) kept me in ok shape during college and kept my weight about 140. Then came the big move to Maine. I began a relationship with a guy from high school and moved to Maine to be with him. I gained 25 more pounds and weighed 165. After a hard breakup I moved to Orlando in January 2008 and began a bootcamp which I did for about 8 months and got down to 155 pounds and then hit a plateau and couldn't afford to keep paying for it. I have never 'really' paid attention to the foods I ate, even during bootcamp, sure I would have a lean cuisine and salad at lunch but at dinner I allowed myself whatever I wanted because "I worked out that morning". While I did lose weight in bootcamp with this attitude, I hit a plateau and didn't lose as much weight as I would have liked. During the 2008 holidays I gained back all of my weight and then some and weighed 175. Now it's a new year and I have the motivation and determination to find the athlete in me once again. I miss playing volleyball and being the active and strong person I once was.

Not real good. On August 26th I tripped at my parents' house on my dad's handicap ramp and rolled my ankle and totally destroyed my right foot and ankle (the ligaments, nerves, and tendons PLUS cracked it). The entire foot from my toes to my heels was completely black and blue. I was on crutches and have to have Xrays and an MRI.

Since it was my right foot they put me in a boot rather than a plaster cast so I could drive, and had to completely off of it. Then on September 16th I was taking one of my daughters to the doctor and we got rear ended while stopped and a red light and my foot was on the braked and it jerked it forward and cracked it worse, so I had to go off it even more and use a walker for two weeks.

I've been in PT for a couple of weeks and just got the ok from the therapist to do some light workouts at the gym like the recumbent bike and very slow walking on the treadmill, but it's going to be a very slow and long recovery.

How about a healthy pasta salad - made with high protein or whole wheat pasta, fat free or light Italian Salad dressing, fresh veggies and a lower sodium ham?

Or baked chicken tenders buffalo style? Or baked chicken legs seasoned with garlic and rosemary (under the skin rub)?

Picnic sounds like fun!
