Breaking News: Tagline Mistaken for Cliché

I have come a very long way from 226 pounds and 10+ repeated major weight loss attempts. After over 3 years on this site I finally reached and blew well past my weight goal - which had always been 140 pounds..even if part of it is one undesirable symptom of presenting with diabetes Type 2 ... my lifestyle has been no match against high blood cholesterol, which is hereditary; I also have low blood pressure ...

I did not ask for any of these diseases, but it's never too late to ...

I did not ask for any of these diseases, but it's never too late to turn things around!
But I'm not leaving Sparks any time soon, though I did go low carb due to blood sugar being tough to control.

Sparkpeople is hosting my first-ever blog...not counting that time I did the Dr. Phil diary website, because that was not really a blog in those years ... and nobody could post comments to it ...

Anyway, Walden Pond is not suitable for swimming, anyhow ... my tough schedule and other matters made swimming a distant memory ...

I still keep my hand in doing some yoga ... it used to be practically my sole form of exercise from 2011 through just recently. Been practicing regularly for 6 years!

Attention: while I believe "pre-diabetes" is a made-up diagnosis [I, personally, never went through that stage], any pre-diabetic who gets very into yoga should also supplement their yoga practice with actual cardio ...
that is, exercise that leads to both rapid AND deep or shallow breathing at the same time. Rapid and deep or shallow breathing, not just your heart pounding, not just a raised pulse rate!

And certainly not just by breaking a sweat!

You could get all those effects just by watching a horror movie ... doesn't even have to be in an overheated room!

Well, anyway, though--nutrition is more my bag ... no expert at either, at least not yet (and still do yoga 8x a month!)

My Goals:
I formulated and started my own diet on December 27, 2002, that I never went off of, literally!

Then, these 10 pounds... and soon 20... wanted back on me ....

I tried in vain to keep off weight I had been keeping off, for the previous 6 years before I became a SparkPerson ...

My Program:
Nutrition all the Way! 2nd UPDATE: Must be low-carb. Could be pescetarian under better circumstance. I have to ditch nearly all carbs, excepting breakfast and metabo-meal. I don't eat anything of the pig/pork family. Diagnosed as a diabetic in Jaunary 2013, but I refuse to give in without a fight.

Now on 1,450 - 1,600 delicious calories' maintenance program per day—with my hectic life! Which includes too-little Cardio (managing high blood cholesterol AND diabetes!) ... but I am learning bit by bit.

And as far as cardio, to come back for second helpings ....

Personal Information:
New York City Born and Raised ... & I Came BACK! I had lived in the Dade County, Florida (Miami, Miami Beach, North Miami, Coconut Grove) as a year-round working stiff during the best years of my life. But New York City, you will always rock!

Thank God for Mayor de Blasio!!!! A triumph for the everyday people who live in NYC!

Other Information:
You will be surprised what (unconventional) wisdom comes out of supposedly faddish diet books, such as "Six Weeks to OMG! Get Skinnier than All Your Friends", "Good Calories Bad Calories" as well as "The Great Cholesterol Con" ... in addition to, "Grain Brain"

I love that you are below your goal, since most people give up and quit. I have Insulin Resistance, so I've done a lot of research on my fat issue, and love "The Diabetes Solution" by Richard Bernstein M.D. He has great lectures on YouTube. He has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 12 and he is a healthy 78 now. He sees mostly obese Type 2 people in his practice, so he says that all obese people have Insulin Resistance & with time will get Type 2 diabetes. That is why I decided to read his book. I got it at the library.

Hey! How was you're week? Mine was pretty stressful! I did a long yoga set last night and some meditation after that definitely helped! I should have been doing it all week but instead I was curled on the couch watching movies most of the week emoticon I hope your weekend is going well!
