One day at a time...

I've struggled with my weight my entire life. I remember going on a diet for the first time when I was in the second grade. Over the past few years, I have begun to make slow lifestyle changes. I've become more active and participate in outdoors activities. The only problem is that now my body doesn't match who I am. People don't look at me and think "I bet she loves hiking." It's more like "I bet she loves donuts." And that's so not who I am!
So, no more excuses. I firmly believe ...

So, no more excuses. I firmly believe that we choose the lives we have. The decisions that I make today determine where and who I will be tomorrow. So, I'd best make choices today that will lead me to who I want to be tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the blog comments!

I actually couldn't agree more. I guess my opinon is that people need to stop taking the shame completely out of it. I'm not saying that people can't be healthy and overweight, but health should be important. The action that made us that way (overeating and such) is definitely far more important!

Thrift shopping and Goodwill are GREAT places to go!! You don't want to go to a mall for transition clothes (special "treats" for making milestones is another thing IMO) and pay all that money for clothes you won't be wearing long. But Goodwill has some GREAT stuff at a GREAT price! And even if you end up not liking it, you wear it a few weeks and then get to pass it along!

I 100% believe in a transition wardrobe - the last thing you want to do is to find yourself wearing baggy too-big clothes because you ran out of stuff that is your size!

Thank you so much for all of your comments on my blogs. And that Maya Angelou quote seriously moved me. It's absolutely true for me. I'm probably going to start using that everywhere now. Thank you!!!

Thanks for commenting on my blog! Yes, knowing your limits, leaving behind food is important to learn - even if it seems small and silly!
