My "story" has been at least alluded to on several teams over the past couple of years, ever since I joined SP, but I'm just now getting around to setting up my SparkPage: 30+ years ago I weighed over 230 pounds with high blood pressue. I had tried various diets over the years, but what weight I had lost I had gained back, plus more.

My dad had just had a stroke so I became really and seriously interested in losing weight and keeping it off. I was lucky enough to find a dietician who helped me set up a low-sodium, low-fat way of eating and an exercise program. Over almost a year, I lost over 90 pounds and, for the most part with only weight variances of 10 lbs or less, have kept it off.

Although I'm not quite as strict with my lifestyle as I used to be, I still eat in a low-sodium, low-fat way and try to get exercise in every day. It's much harder now that I am a "senior citizen" and I have COPD, but there is still some exercise I can do. I am much more knowledgeable about eating in a healthy way and having a healthy lifestyle, at least partly due to SparkPeople.

My Goals:

Personal Information:
I was born and raised in northern Oklahoma, with a few years spent in southern Kansas. I have lived in California since 1966. Most of the time in San Diego County, but a few years in northern California in the Sacramento area.

I am a retired attorney; my hobbies are reading, listening to music, drawing and painting. I love to cook and enjoy finding new recipes for healthy dishes and/or finding new ways to prepare old recipes in a healthier manner.

Hello and welcome to sparkpeople! I have lost 45 pounds since April this year by working out ( I use the INSANITY program) and eating completely different than I have all my life by using this site. If you have any questions or anything let me know.
