In December 2007 I went on a snow boarding trip with my boyfriend. The snow was great and I was really looking forward to it. on the first morning we went to the hire shop and I had to step on the scales .... OMG the scale only went to 200 lbs and i shot off the top of it. I was absolutely mortified. I had noticed I gained some weight but thought - no big deal. My week boarding was very tough physically, my stomach had gotten so big getting up was actually a problem (most of the time i had to get up backwards).

That was all it took to 'spark me into action. I started my new healthier lifestyle on 1 Jan 2008 at 217lbs and haven't looked back since. Don;t get me wrong it hasn't been easy, there have been 6 month plateau's, time I've gained back 10lbs but I've never wanted to give up or go back to being 217 lbs !

April 2010 and I now weigh 162 lbs, and I'm only 22lbs from my final goal weight. I will achieve a healthy BMI in just 8 lbs so hopefully somtime in May. I'm pretty sure that is the first time I will of had a healthy BMi since college so i'm really excited about seeing that number on the scale.

Feb 2014 and I thought this section needed an update. I fell off the wagon. I never thought it would happen but it did. I managed to gain all the way up to 225lbs I have no real idea why I let it go so far I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to stop. But now I am and I'm fighting my way back down currently bouncing around 210 mark, and have decided to embark on a paleo journey, cutting out all of the processed junk i eat is the first step.

Thanks for your comments! I don't mean to sound thoughtless, it's just that she makes comments about how old I look when thin, and guilt trips me into eating all manner of fatty food, but if I don't I'm anorexic. Sigh...guess we just have a history...
    Thanks again! emoticon

DietBet is a website that hosts "Games" that allow you to bet money that you will lose 4% of your body weight in 28 days. All of the bets are to lose 4% in 28 days, but the amount of the bet is different from game to game. For instance, I am in 5 games (the max) right now and two are $25 bets, two are $35 bets, and one is a $50 bet. Everyone's bet goes into a Pot. At the end of the game, that Pot is evenly divided between all of the "winners" (people who lost 4%), minus DietBet's cut, which is usually 20% of the Pot.

So if only half the people reach the 4% goal, you would nearly double your money (minus DietBet's cut). But despite your winnings being reliant on the failure of others, I find the community to be incredibly supportive and encouraging. No one is rooting for others to fail.

"Are you plateauing so i can catch you up ?? 1 more week and I might just do that you better get moving onwards to onderland - go and keep the doors open I'm right behind ya ! "
    * I'll tell ya. There's some extreme potential for at least 4 of us to be below 200 at the end of the year. I'm really excited about that. You, Moira and I are loose teeth hanging at this point. Chris is doing well and will probably get there.

Unfortunately, it's kind of occurring to me that 200 is very close to the end of the line for me. My real goal weight is only 5 pounds below that. So I don't know what happens next.

    Continued success to you!
