Trixie Gets Healthy

I'm a 44-year old wife and mother to 13-year old boy/girl twins. I've struggled with my weight all of my life but I have finally found a plan to get healthy that works for me and has become a way of life. I'm a low carb eater and a runner. I am training for my first half-marathon in September 2014. I am getting stronger, healthier, and slimmer every day!

My Goals:
I started at 294 pounds in January of 2013 and my goal is 130-140 pounds. I try to worry less about the scale though and more about how I feel and look.

My Program:
I am a low carb eater. I generally try to stay under 1700 calories per day but don't stress about it much as long as my carbs stay around 20 grams per day.

I run every other day (I have become an avid runner!)
On my non-run days, I do long walks.
I get at least 10,000 steps every day, without fail, no exceptions!!!
I also do short abs and arms workouts every other day.
I have become a fitness junkie!

I love to share with others more details about my program, especially how I went from a 1,000 step per day, almost totally sedentary lifestyle, to a fitness addict. Feel free to message me for more info!

Personal Information:
I am a native Texan currently living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In December of this year I will be moving back to East Texas (Canton/Tyler area).

Other Information:
I'm a nut about soccer (especially American soccer, MLS. FC Dallas is my team)!
I love to read, sci-fi and non-fiction.

Yes, many athletes do not understand the importance of the taper. I think of it as storing all the saved energy for race day, and work on mental toughness and race strategy.

Tapering is my favorite part of training, as if I earned the break. I made a mistake on my first HM, as I tapered 2 weeks, according to plan. But it was too long. This time, only 1 week.

Thanks for cheering me on. emoticon

I jogged 30 seconds/walked 45 seconds for the entire 8K with a" sprint" emoticon at the finish. That ratio (weird as it is) seemed perfect for me. I'm experimenting with different ratios. That is exciting that you are going to be in the Jeff Galloway Half and that you know him.
