Trixie Gets Healthy

I'm a 43-year old wife and mother to 12-year old boy/girl twins. I've struggled with my weight all of my life but I have finally found a plan to get healthy that works for me and is quickly becoming my new lifestyle. I'm a low carb eater, I'm doing Couch to 5K training, and Pilates. I am getting stronger, healthier, and slimmer every day!

Trixie, have you had your hugs today? Consider yourself hugged! Thank you for enriching my life and being a part of my journey. Sending lots of hugs from me to you! Have a blessed weekend!

"Hugging has no unpleasant side effects and is all natural. There are no batteries to replace, it's inflation-proof and non-fattening with no monthly payments. It's non-taxable, non-polluting, and is, of course, fully refundable." ~Author Unknown

I told you that I will be arriving in Chicago the day you are leaving, right?? LOL we just keep missing each other! too weird... but I'm going for fun.. We're staying at the Wyndham Blake on the South Loop near the Museums and Grant Park... I'm a bit nervous about it but am writing down my plan to get my workout in (above all the walking we'll be doing) and my strategies to handle the food.. I haven't decided if I' going to go off for a cheat meal or do as another Paleo friend suggested and just have "bites" here and their.. I just don't know yet.. but I must decide sooooon.

Have fun on your trip!

My achilles is MUCH better.. went to PT 3 times this week and boy what a difference that made. I still am not supposed to do "dynamic movement" like going down stairs, jumping, running... just sloooo stretches.. walking.. I was a bit worried about pushing the truck.. but it was soooo slooooooww (LOL) that it loaded my achilles but in a slow way and I think may have helped. I'm no longer limping and the pain is about a 4 without ibuprofen.. all GREAT signs.. cuz last time I hurt my achilles I was out of commission for months.. so I am babying it big time!

The RMR test costs $125.. check with your physician (and his billing office) cuz your insurance might cover it.. mine did not but it was worth it to find out what it was! Menopause has a lot to do with it (in addition to my unfitness) and I could take hormones but I chose not to since my mother had breast cancer and my sister died of ovarian cancer. Also, putting on muscle will significantly increase my metabolism. Other than that there's really not any "good science" behind the other things... OH! It could be caused by thyroid too but I've had that checked and it's fine.

Hope your weekend is awesommmmee!! Have you been back to the trails by the river?
