Trying Something New

That's me on the left. I've gained 20 pounds in the last year. I'm hypothyroid, but my doctor says my numbers "are fine." I do find myself binging on chocolate and eating late at night. I saw this poto of myself today and it was a wakeup call. What I WANT to look like is the bottom photo and I'm feeling so discouraged and helpless I don't even know where to start. I exercise 3x a week, but it's not helping as long as I'm still eating badly.

Smile more!!

Be positive!

Be nice to myself.

Spend MORE time with the kids, and less time on the computer.

I want to feel sexy!

I want to feel physically good - no more headaches, and just feel better, healthier in general.

I want to be able to wear my engagement ring again.

I'd like to be able to fit in my clothes comfortably, not squeezed in.

I'd like to be able to walk uphill without being out of breath.

I want more energy.

I want to wear a bikini this summer!

And in the words of Lester Burnam, I want to look good naked. :P

My Program:
Cardio - 4-5x a week. This could be walking or one of my workout videos.

Strength training - minimum 4 days a week.. Working on abs, arms, legs, butt.

Make better food choices and plan meals.

Get in my protein, calcium, fiber, fruits, veggies, and water water water!

Try to cut back on junk food, but allow myself treats, and don't beat myself up if I slip. Move on!!

Hi! I just joined the hypothyroid team and noticed your name on the team. As I read your comments, I recognize much of what I have gone through! Although you are much younger than I am :-) I started weight watchers over 3 years ago. it worked for a while. But what I found that, with our condition, a lower carb, no sugar way of life seems to work a little better. Have you tried a low carb way of eating yet? I say low carb, but how I do it is lean protien, lots and lots of green veggies and some fruits and berries. Hope this helps! Hang in there...
