5% Winter Challenge
I will be following the Spark Plan diet, watching my portions, measuring / weighing everything.
I will work exercise into my day at least 5 days a week. I will need to work on this one harder this challenge!

I'm 50 years old, mother of 3, grandmother of 2. I have always put my kids, grandkids, my mom, others in general first before myself. And I still believe in general thats how it should be. But, there comes a point that you have to put yourself first at least part of the time, otherwise we lose the ability to help the ones we want / need to. I need to lose weight, over 100 pounds. So far I don't have any health issues but I am well on my way to having numerous ones if I don't do something to prevent them! Diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure run in my family. So far I am lucky to have none, but if I keep on this track, that luck won't hold out!!

1/15/14 ---- I didn't do well at all in the Fall Challenge due to having some very stressful things going on. My mama was very sick and in the hospital for over 2 months. She passed away on Dec 22, 2013. I miss her so much I can't even describe it, and it has been a challenge just trying to make myself want to get up in the mornings. But I know I still have life to live and she would want me to live it to the fullest. To do that I need to be healthy!! So on I go with doing all I can to meet my goals to be happy and healthy!!

My Goals:
My goals are:

* To get healthier and more fit.
* Lose 100 pounds.
* Be able to walk up stairs / up hills without becoming short of breath.
* Be healthy enough to play with my grand children for years to come, maybe even my great grand children!!
* Be able to sit indian style or with my knees up to my chest in front of me.
* Be able to get down on the floor / sit on the ground and be able to get back up easily on my own.
* And there are many more I think of in my head daily as I do things. Simple everyday things that just shouldn't be so hard to do!!

My Program:
* Choosing healthier foods.
* Limiting sweets and unhealthy snack foods.
* Staying with in my calorie limit.
* Exercise, exercise, exercise....even if it's just 10 minutes!
* Log in to SP daily and stay connected to all my SP friends who inspire me and try to do the same for them!
* Learn to not beat myself up when I mess up. Just accept it, try to figure out why I messed up and try to correct it.
* Learn that it's ok to have a treat now and then, just in moderation.

Personal Information:
I am from and live in western North Carolina, near Asheville. I grew up a military brat and was a military wife. I have 3 kids and 2 grand children. I have been a nurse for 30 years. And even tho for years I have educated many patients on how to be and live healthier, I have not followed my own advice. I'm tired of being so fat that I am uncomfortable in my own skin, tired of having a hard time finding clothes that look nice, fit good, and feel good to wear!, and I am very tired of feeling like I don't deserve good things in my life, because I do deserve them!! I deserve to be healthy, more fit, deserve to be able to go on a hike, or ride amusement rides, just plain walk around town without feeling like I am too fat to do all the things I want to! And even tho this site says I have been a member since May of 2011, I never used it until Sept 1st, 2012. In May 2011 I logged on, joined to look at the site when someone told me about it, but that was it. NOW is the time for me to use

Other Information:
I love reading, working in my yard, doing anything with my kids / grand kids, listening to live music, going to the casino now and then, playing spades and backgammon. I'm not a big TV sports person, but I like going to sporting events in person. I like to cook, go on long drives, sight see, take trips. Went to the Grand Ole Oprey last April and had a blast! I love going to church and getting as close to my Savior as I can. Country , gospel and contemporary christian are my favorite music types. But I enjoy some rock, hip hop ect too. But I can't stand heavy metal or rap at all! I like All kinds of movies except really stupid ones like "Airplane or Police Academy". WHEW OK I think thats enough about me lol.
