I'm 59 and I need to lose about 50 pounds and I've begun my journey towards that goal. I'm a wife to Michael of 28 years and the mother to daughters Sharis 39 and Terai 36. I have 4 grandchildren - 3 grandsons Taylor 21, Nicholas 18, and Ryan 9, and my favorite granddaughter of all Raigan 14. I'm a Christian. I'm looking forward to my new Spark friends to lean on and to encourage me and I will do my best to do the same for you.
Here I go again. I still have 45 pounds to lose. I'm frustrated yet determined to not quit. I know I'm coming up on the (to me) hardest time of the year with lots of holidays and lots of food. But I will keep plugging away at it. One day I'm going to win this battle of the bulge.
Here we are at yet another year and I'm still am not at goal. But....it's okay. I'm lighter than I was so that's a plus. I will continue with my plan of watching my diet and committing to a minimum of 30 minutes of fitness each day. Actually I need to up that to at least 60 minutes as I began working out with a personal trainer the end of October and I work out with him a hour. Since working out with PT I've lost 7.5 inches and I get tons of compliments or comments asking what am I'm doing. So as i emabark on another year I will get back to the basics (B2B) and my mantra will be NO EXCUSES. I'm claiming that 2014 as my year.
I would love to report and say I stuck to my plan and I met my goal and I've lost weight. But the truth is I was very relaxed with my plan, I didn't lose any weight in fact I gained weight. So here we are again. BLC23 will begin 09-25-13 and unlike the last round I do plan on sticking with my regimen and losing a minimum of 10 pounds. I would love for it to be 20 but I want to be realistic. One change I have made for the good I am walking more as I'm training for my first Half Marathon Walk 10-20-13. So I'm really looking forward to being able to scratch that off my bucket list. I will chack back in around November 6th for my halfway update.
It's been a really rough year beginning with the death of my niece 1-4-13 and unfortunately it just hasn't gotten any better. Not only have I fallen off the wagon but I allowed the wheels of the wagon to roll over me. I have got to find my way back. I've got to get back on the wagon, fasten my seatbelt and if and when I fall off again roll from under the wagon and dust myself off and hop back on. I need to do this for me. So as of yesterday I've vowed to get B2B -get Back to the Basics. It's not going to be easy as it's been 7 months that I have wallowed in the dirt and grime. It's a process and I'm willing to do the work. Since I'm a old bird I'm not going to set unrealistic goals. I'm shooting for 2 pounds a week. I'm going to check back 8-26-13 that will be my 58th birthday.
I've lost 13.8 pounds since September 12, 2012 for a total of 32.4 pounds since 1/1/12. To meet my orginal goal of 50 pounds I still have 17.6 pounds to go. That's too much to lose in 7 weeks. So now I'm just going to shoot for another 7-10 pounds by 12/31/12.
According to my doctor's scale I've lost a total of 31.6 pounds in 2012. It's not what I wanted but I'm still happy nonetheless. So It's time to set new goals for this year.
My weight loss goal for 2013 is to lose 30-40 pounds.
Get no less than 500 fitness minutes per week.
Do strength training an minimum of twice week.
Eat 5-6 Freggies daily.
Work real hard on getting 6-8 glasses of water daily.
Well it's almost the beginning of BLC 22. It starts Wednesday 6/5/13. For this voyage I hope to lose a minimum of 10 pounds in the 12 weeks. Looking back at my update from 1-1-13, I've got to get busy if I want to meet my yearly goal of 30-40 pounds. I will update this again in 6 weeks.

My goal is to lose a minimum of 50 pounds and to keep it off.
I'm exercising at least 5 days a week in some form of physical activity. I'm watching what I eat, I'm making sure I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and at least 4 or more fruits and/or vegetables daily. I'm also using a journal to keep track of what I eat and my daily physical activity.
1) I've printed off my visual calendars for the rest of this and next month.
2) I have an exercise program in place.
3) I'm going to strive to get 8 glasses of water in daily
4) I will either walk or run outside 3-4 times a week
5) I'm going to track my food and stay within my 1200 calorie range.
6) I'm starting over Monday morning 9-17-14.
7) I will achieve no less than 25 sparkpoints everyday so that I can get a bonus spin. (In achieving these points by reading articles, blogs, posts, etc I always learn something that inspires me).
8) I'm also walking another Half-Marathon in October
I'm orginally from Buffalo, NY. I went to college at Clark College(now known as Clark Atlanta University) in Atlanta, GA. I moved to Detroit in '79 and I now reside 75 miles away since 1983.
I'm a fun loving person and I love my family and spending time with them. I love to travel. I have a goal to visit all the 50 states and I have only 14 more to go. Hawaii was one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to making long lasting friendships with Spark friends who understand my struggle.
