My Weight Loss Struggle

I am 24 and trying to balance grad school and being healthy. I've tried spark people a few times before and even though I found it helpful, I never stuck with it. I'm hoping that will change this year.

I am 24 and trying to balance grad school and being healthy. I've tried spark people a few times before and even though I found it helpful, I never stuck with it. I'm hoping that will change this year.

Over the past year, I gained 10 pounds. I always thought I was too busy to exercise. School was too much work. I would watch the weight slowly creep up and my clothes not fit any longer and just shrug it off. My blood pressure was borderline high and the doctor in the school health center told me I needed to exercise and stress less.

Then in December 2013, the scale hit 200. That was what shocked me. I've always been overweight but this was the highest I have ever been. I knew I needed to make a change.

In two weeks of exercising at least a little everyday, my blood pressure has become normal. It's still at the high end of normal but it is normal! That's something else that motivated me. I want to be healthy. I have PCOS which is going to make weight loss difficult but I know I can do this. It might take a while and I know I'll have good days and bad but I need to stick with making this change.

My ideal weight is 140. But for now, I'm just taking it 10 lbs at a time. I hope to lose at least 10lbs by the end of March. I know this is a slow rate, but I am in no hurry. I don't want to add the stress of losing a certain amount every week and then weigh myself obsessively.

Until then, I plan to do some form of exercise every day. I really like dancing and might try that. And probably blog everyday to keep myself accountable.

My Goals:
Lose weight and eat healthy!

Get to 185 by the end of July and 180 by the end of August.




My Program:
I am currently doing Hip Hop Abs!

I also have Slim in 6 and I plan to complete that at some point.

Once I reach 150-160ish, I want to take up running. I'll do C25K. I'm afraid I'll hurt my knees if I try it at my current weight.
